my vento scooter 49cc zip r3i was sitting in storage since last summer, took it out tried to start it and at first turned over fine. My second attempted all that it made was a clicking sound, bought a new battery still clicks, tried to bridge the starter solenoid still clicks only. The strange thing is if i turn the motor using the belt its fine till it gets to a certain spot then it gets hard to turn. If i do this a couple of times the clicking is gone she will try to turn over but acts like there is not enough power then it gets stuck and starts clicking again. I have e new battery, checked all the grounds, wires and fuses. im at a lost only has 800miles on it.

If it clicks, several things can be the problem. 1. The battery is weak and if you got a new battery you usualy have to charge them for at least 4-6 hours to bring them up to full charge. 2. The Solenoid is bad 3. If you jump the two terminals on the Solenoid then it is your battery or a bad Starter.
To test the starter get a good charged battery even a jump from a car (NOT RUNNING) hook the positive to the wire on the starter and the NEGATIVE just touch the motor with it and see if it spins. If it spins then you know it is your battery or solenoid. Alleyoop

So your saying the starter gets hot but is not spinning is that correct? If so it is toast OR your motor is seized. Can you turn the Variator or Flywheel by hand and turn the motor over? If so then the motor is not seized and its the Starter if it gets hot and does not spin. Alleyoop

Yes i can turn the variator by hand till a certain point then it gets a bit tougher to turn, but it will turn. When it gets to the spot where it gets harder thats where rhe clicking begins and nothing moves, (using the electric start button). The starter does get hot but i dont know if it was from me trying to get it to turn over.

When turning the variator by hand there will be a turn where it is JUST a little harder that is the compression stroke but you should be able to just us a little more strength not to much and push through the compression stroke. If so and it clicks when it gets to that point THEN only two things are the culprit: 1.The Battery is WEAK 2. The Starter is bad.
Now you can test the starter like I said if you have a friend with a car with jumpers. And see if it will spin the starter. If it does then you know your battery is weak and probably has a bad cell.
But I suspect the starter since you say it gets hot, and there is not much you can do but get a new starter. Alleyoop

Great!! It can only be TWO things at this point BATTERY or STARTER that is it. But like I said I suspect the starter since it gets hot and does not spin. Alleyoop

It could also be bad wires to the starter... The original wires to the starter are normally very weak...

Now don't forget it may spin without any load on it like turning the motor over, so it could be weak. Did you use the scoot battery to test it or some other battery? Alleyoop

I used scoot battery first, then jump from a car battery. Going to try and put a quick vid see if that might help.
