Hey guys i've never owned a scoot before, but i'm going to be purchasing one soon. I want to buy a 49cc 4-stroke air cooled scooter. I want to spend around a max of 1000 bucks. I was looking at bintelli's sprint 49cc that costs 1000 bucks. Would anybody recommend this scoot? I hear they have great customer service and it comes with a two year warranty. If not could somebody point me towards something better for that price? I know chinese scoots tend to have a TON of problems, but i heard bintelli is different. I originally was looking at a tao tao thunder 50 until I heard all of the problems they have. I don't mind putting a little work into a scoot to get it up to par with other reliable scoots either. I would apprectiate your opinions! Thanks guys!
p.s. I hope this is in the correct place to put this thread and I apologize if I am wrong.

I have owned Tao Tao's. I got rid of them after I test rode a Bintelli. Bintelli's have a much smoother ride, better quality parts and manufacturing process. I own a Flash and a Scorch. For the extra money they are a much better bike.

How many miles have you put on them? And any major problems?

my taotao atm50 has only left me stranded once and it was my own fault for not tightening the variator nut to spec. i bought it with 8,000km and now has about 14,000km 7 months later. it has been reliable but i have done a lot of maintenance to keep it running problem free.
i only know what i have read about the bintelli's, they seem like they would be a good choice for the money. best thing you can do for yourself: regardless what you buy, learn how to do basic maintenance.

I hear some people getting lucky with tao taos but i cant take that risk. taotao would only be on my list because they are cheapest and i don't mind learning how to repair. definitely go with a bintelli or some other affordable model.

I grew up with Honda , Suzuki and some Euro two wheelers . I bought a TaoTao ATMa 50 and it is the biggest I ever owned . Day two the piston cracked . Got ir rebuilt poof it blew up 6 weeks later . Instead of getting another crappy piston kit I got a 50mm Air Sal BBK which was far more superior . I hated the ride as the rear shock is wimpy , the head light was just above a candle . The rear brake was wimpy and squeaked like crazy . I hate cabled drum and prefer hydraulic disc brakes since they are superior . The scooters with 10x3.5 tires are not stable as mine and all others like I have ridden were sketchy at top speed . I would only get a scooter with 12 or taller tires , which are also wider and have a longer wheel base . The ride , comfort and stability are day and night diff . I bought a Jonway Magnum which is a 2T or 2 stroke with a handsome boy body , like the Peace VIPs and other models also have , and I really like having twin headlights instead of a single bulb . It also has fat 130//60/13 tires instead of 10x3.5 tires like many do . The ride reminds me of and old school minibike as it came with a street knobbies instead of normal street tires . It is so stable I can ride with no hands even in a curve with no worries . Even high wind and , cracks and uneven road patches are very stable where my TaoTao and even my Echarm it would zig zag . I know you said a grand but for a 100 or 200 here is two models both with 13s and rear disc which is very rare for a 50 to have www.scooterdomain.com/shop-scooters/street-legal

Bintellis start at $1,000. They'll be your best bet if you can't afford something more expensive.

Heck for a 1000 if you can rebuild motors you can get a cheap china bike new for under or around 700 bucks, put a quality airsal, hoca, ncy piston kit, head, camshaft and all the other stuff like belt variator and carb. Then you don't have a china bike anymore its a hoca, ncy or whatever you put in it. My tao isn't really a tao anymore i replaced almost every piece and it can be done around 1000 bucks.

Yeah i might just rebuild one, not a half bad idea. And skuttadawg i dont want to buy one from a distributor. There are all kinds of dealerships around here so im just going to buy from one of them.
