It's been raining here for more than a week. Finally got some sun today so I got out and rode around. Did anyone else get to today?

I have managed to get out once since early November, and yesterday certainly wasn't it. It has been the start of what looks like a long cold winter here in NE Ohio with lots of dense clouds, winds, and generally nasty weather along with lots of salt on the road.

I ride everyday. Unless it is snowing in the morning. I have missed 3 days in the last 2 months... BTW the salt washes off with water.

Don't have to worry about snow around here, so I'm lucky enough to ride every day. There are some advantages to living in Vegas when it comes to riding outside of a cage!  |

Here it has been cold... in the 20's.... not cold for some, but for me... it's way too cold... It's been even too cold to work in the garage on the 250.
What can I say? I'm a California person, and Cold just isn't my thing!

I haven't rode for four days the roads are snow covered well at least the side roads. Its been in the 20s scoots don't do good in snow and ice

I got in a 180 mile ride yesterday, big circle part of which was through Joshua 'tree Nat. Mon. from below sea level to over 5000 feet.

I have been off the scoot for the last few days since we got our little snow with lots of residual ice here in the NYC area. I went back to the bike today because the roads are clear, but wouldn't you know that I went down on a patch of ice at the base of my driveway? Rest of the ride (at 21 degrees) was fine. Yet more body damage to my poor scoot.

Hitting ice on your scooter is no fun, that has happened to me twice, once I pulled out on to one of the main roads in my town and ended up sideways and another time I hit a patch of ice going down hill. Ride safe!

Ran around town...hardware store to get electric switch for the ceiling fan light ....went to Walmart to get oil and oil filters for the cars that are in need of change. Stopped by Walgreen's to get something for my sinus infection.... all in all a very pleasant ride.Btw...it's sunny and in the mid 50's here in Houston...which is actually below average for this time of year

Yes, the salt washes off with water, and then the water freezes in the nooks and crannies and cable housings afterwards too. Around here they use enough that a semi will trail a visible cloud of salt dust 35 feet wide, 15 feet high, and up to 150 feet long or more at 50 - 60 MPH. It's not pleasant to breathe and can blind you until you stop and wipe your eyes. |

In South Florida we can ride 365 days a year rain or shine and I usually ride at least 350 of them.
It takes several hours to debrine and then you have to deal with the water getting into things it shouldn't have. If you don't do a good enough job you will eventually find out. I use to live in the salt belt and have seen what happens when a little road salt gets into the smallest void of a motorbikes frame and then is kept damp by frequent exposure to water. It isn't pretty and hopefully if it fails it will be just when you sit on the bike before you ride off and not afterwards.
My father-in-law did one frame up and asked me what I thought so I grabbed each end and pressed my knee in the middle and gave it a good pull. You should have seen the look on his face when it collapsed and then broke in half with all the rust pouring out from inside the tubing. The salt had gotten inside the tubes and ate away at it from the inside. Would have been quite a disaster if it failed at any speed with a rider on it.
