So, I have a dilemma. I'm installing a new exhaust on my scoot (the old one finally fell/rattled apart, LOL). However the PO laid the bike down a couple of times, one of those times being on the exhaust, which broke off the lower mounting casting on the block. My question is, what would y'all suggest I do to go about mounting this so that it doesn't vibrate and break apart? FWIW, this is the exhaust I picked up. I know I'll have to fab up some brackets. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005M30IUC/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I tried a couple things, finally took the motor out, recleaned the area, removed the magneto, stator and ignition pick up, stood the motor in a bucket so the broken ear eas up, and I brazed in a bunch of new aluminum. I used the swung arm to center and drill a new pilot and final hole, and then tapped new threads. s235.photobucket.com/user/jeepsteve92xj/library/scooter/ZNEN/repairing%20the%20broken%20ear?sort=2&page=1Mine was the upper ear, so I could have replaced the far right case part. Yours is on the center case section, = much more work. However, if you have a single shock and no right side swing arm, you could rig a mount to the top hole and try to clamp (bolt, nut, washers)in the lower partial hole. If you cant do the brazing, then do the cleanup, and take the whole motor to a welding shop (or maybe a technical school welding class)

I made one for 3 bux like this..took 20 mins or so. Girlfriend has used it 3 years now with no problems. I used 1/2x3/4' aluminum angle stock I bought for 3 bux at Menards....Home Depot and all other big chain hardware stores carry it as well. Here is a pic. Easy to do and $45.00 cheaper than buying one.. Glenn Ok won't let me load a pic..so here is a link..it is the 4th post down. Click the pic and you will see how to save $45.00 and mount your muffler up solid.. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/4617/carb-rejetting-necessary-exhaust

I can't remember, are the mounting ears on the center section of the case or the right case side?

I had bought an universal muffler for a 250cc for my Echarm since the muffler is clamped instead of welded together . The stock muffler is heavy duty unlike most and bolted right to the frame ., Well the aftermarket muffler had no bolt holes . It came with a strap and I bought the mount kit that was posted above from PFS . I figured the triangle piece would work but instead the other one lined up perfect .
You are asking about a 50cc correct ? If so ever thought about trying a pipe for a 2T engine ? I have read where a few have done so and with good results . The forward curved style with expansion chamber have heavy duty mounts compared to most 4T exhausts . I love how my 2T it has two bolts at the head and two bolts in the rear instead of using a strap . I have seen two scooters where I live with this setup and one without the muffler . I was shocked at how good and deep the exhaust note was and that it did not sputter and was not too much louder than stock . When I had a racing pipe on my 2T with a BBK it was so darn loud it make my ears ring at high RPMs . Sounded like a Yamaha YZ 80 .
I was surprised to see how expensive many generic exhaust kits can cost . There was a guy on You Tube who cut off the muffler end , removed the baffles , welded the cap back on , cut off the nozzle tip , bored out the exit port and welded on a wider tip . He also put on a carb for a Honda XR 80 since he had a BBK the stock carb would need to be upjetting anyways and in some cases replaced with a larger venturi carb .
NEVER run it without a muffler unless you put in a few sizes larger main jet . A buddy of mine had a mishap while riding and broke off the muffler . He got mad and kicked the pipe causing it to only be a short stub . I told him not to ride it as is and even gave him a jet kit . Well he did not follow my advice and it ran so hot the head on the exhaust valve broke off and ate up the head , piston and cylinder , which required a whole new engine kit . I have seen many that exhausts that are made out of pot metal that just rots and crumble apart .
