I am waiting for a new petcock for my Eton 50cc Beamer III. It'll be here in about a week and a half. The old one isn't opening the diaphragm. Can I plug the vacuum and run fuel straight to the carb or will that screw something up?
I just got this thing and I'd like to take 'er out for a test drive. THANKS ! ! !

Yes you can, I did it for a while until I got a manual petcock. As long as the tank is above the carb, you can do it.

The petcock is there so that gravity doesn't override the carburetor float and drain fuel out the overflow vents. Engine stops, gas stops. Otherwise you come back and find a smelly puddle underneath. My aunts leaked. She parks on an asphalt driveway and came back to a sticky mess. It took weeks of sand and kitty litter before it dried. I hope you end up with the correct part. On her 2005 it was the petcock with the small threads. We got one from ScrappyDog. And be careful getting it off that you don't spin the stub on the bottom of the tank.

It'll be just fine running a straight gas line to the carb. I've completely remove my fuel petcock and installed a fuel shut off valve on the line. ;D

If your float valve is in good shape, no need to worry. there is nowhere near enough pressure in that 1/8" fuel line to overcome the carb.(not with just gravity anyway)

I had the carb apart to check for any foreign debris but it was spotless. I did notice the valve you mention had no rubber tip, is it supposed to be bare?

No go on that one, looks like I'll be waiting for my petcock to arrive. I hooked everything up, started it up, it ran great until in got flooded and gas was pouring out of the carb overflow. Oh well, it was worth a try.

If it's not operating without a petcock, It won't operate right with one either. the petcock on these scoots Is a pulse pump. You need to fix your float valve.

Yes the valve will prevent it flooding while parked . My motorcross CR 80 and 125 only had a valve and they were screamers . Just make sure the hose is routed so gravity will help it flow down from the tank to the carb

I have ran my daily drive scooter for the last 4 years with no petcock of any type and never had an issue. My race scooter tho has a Mikuni fuel pump (petcock)
