I'm looking for a little insight on upgrades to the drive train on my scoot. For starters, it is a 139QMB GY6-50cc. I'm looking to upgrade the clutch, belt,, clutch bell, and sheave, but I'm not sure what springs I should get for the torque springs and clutch springs. I weigh about 195 lbs. and the terrain is generally flat. I was also wondering if upgrading the transmission gears is worth the effort. What advise do you have?  |

What are you looking for Top End Speed or short quick bursts from light to light.

it has everything you need

Yep NCY has it all . You can get a Gates Powerlink or Bando belt which ether is way better than the generic ones . I would try lighter rollers to start since they are ten dollars . I had 8 grams and went down to 5 grams and it helped me alot with the rest stock

Depends what you are trying to achieve i put in 1.5k spring and 1k clutch springs with a performance clutch, i need hill climbing power and good take off. I ride in town not many long straight aways all stop and go.

I ride in town not many long straight aways all stop and go. Was those mods extreme enough for you to not take off comfortably and smoothly and make every acceleration "jumpy?" |

Everyone is throwing out put this on or this on and nobody knows what he is looking for. He cannot get both sides to the extreme either you get a lot of top end and loose a little on the bottom end or a lot of low end getup and loose a little on the top end. So it is important to know what you want EACH will require a different setup and if you just go by what some say you may not like the other side of it or how the scoot acts on one end or the other.

I'm running 4 gram sliders right now and pretty happy with it acceleration right now. Top end is about 40-45 I think, still need to have the speedo verified. I'm really searching for a better idea of what springs to order instead of trial and error. I'm not climbing hills. if I can get 45-55 out of the scoot,
I'll be very pleased. I guess my real question is, what size of springs normally come in the clutch?

well, I just got off the phone with scrappydogscooter.com, in most cases, the 2k springs normally come in the clutch. I guess I'll have to see what happens. I have time to figure it out, I have a week until I have surgery on my elbow, so I won't get to ride for a while.  |

for flat terrain, relatively low torque, you could get a very tall (high) gearing, and very light rollers/sliders, to get the best of both worlds.
However with the least of wind against you, or uphill, you might end up in a situation where the engine can not reach the required speed to move out the rollers/sliders, and you could get stuck riding @ low speeds...

I do not want to be the barrier of bad news but if this is a stock 139qmb motor without going into the motor you will be lucky it gets real 35+mph with a few mods. Don't go by the speedo they are way off and register higher than your actual speed. Just so you know and many on here will verify this some have to put in Big Bore Kits(bigger piston more displacement) just to reach 40mph. You can honestly expect about 35mph with some simple mods, the speeds your looking for you can expect out of a 150cc scoot. Just trying to be honest and realistic about all this and not get your hopes up.
Millsc is a good resource to tell you some truths, he has modded his scoots quite a bit and can plainly tell you what you can honestly expect without going into the motor.

thanks for the info! I really want to get an accurate speedo in so I have an idea what future mods gains are, of course I'll end up increasing its bore later anyhow.
