Bearings will need some form of lubrication too at the rpm that they will be subjected to. Bearings for a skateboard may not be robust enough, but a quality sets can be obtained relatively cheap. ?There are a ton of different sizes already in the market that will do fine in this application. The real question is how to adapt the oil supply to feed the bearings, then return to the crankcase. Another question to consider is filtration. The majority of engine wear and damage is caused by debris in the 10-20 micron range, or 1/4-1/3 the thickness of a human hair. Bearings are very susceptible to damage and failure is almost always catastrophic. Having a compressor contact a case during operation will send large pieces into the intake track and can end up in the valves and cause internal engine damage. I have seen this happen in the automotive industry. Something to remember.

I'm very interested in following your progress in this project. A couple notes to consider though. A blow off valve would be the best application for regulating maximum intake charge pressure. Intercooling for either application would be a good idea, for a turbo it would be a must. Carburetors will in fact misbehave if designed to be drawn through are subjected to abnormal pressure differentials. A special carburetor for push through applications must be installed. I'll do some research to contribute, I love forced induction applications!

Cheap parts make me nervous. I've been trying to better the quality on parts on my scoot, not really play roulette for the sake of building cheap. Now that I'm thinking about it, I wonder if ARP has any of the head bolts....

DXverify that your valve lash has not wandered during adjustment. If it is too tight, the valves may not be seating properly. If your valve lash is too great, valves may not be opening enough to allow sufficient intake charge to enter and escape the combustion chamber. If your valve lash is good, make your a/f adjustment. when you have the right a/f ratio, the spark plug will set in on a slight brown color around the anode and electrode with no coking.

I hit 40mph GPS with a slight head wind (6-10 mph) and running 4g sliders. I'm 5-8 at about 195lbs. I'm thinking adding weight back into the variator for better top end.

Mr. Rogers a Marine sniper, not much more is known than that. Oh, Ted Williams was a Marine pilot.

In NC, the law for Mopeds(less than 50cc) is that you stay to the right as safely as possible and cars can pass went legal( single dash or passing lanes) if the scoot is not traveling at posted speed limit. Distance for passing is two feet. If you can kick the car, they are too close. If they hit you with a mirror, it is considered an accident, so if they drive off, they just fled the scene. Of course, if you don't wreck and end up in the hospital, the likelihood of catching such driver is slim without witness accounts and a police report.

I'll give 89 a shot first. I buy scooter and lawn equipment fuel from one particular gas station that isn't exactly close, only because the fuel is ethanol free. Carbureted engines hate ethanol and fuel economy goes down. Ethanol is put in gasoline for emissions, not for efficiency. An octane rating on a fuel is the fuel's resistance to detonation, which is the occurrence that fuel is ignited in the chamber by anything other than the spark plug. Typically, these small engines are low compression and really don't approach low grade's limits, but it might help a little during the hotter months to up the fuel quality. Guess I'll find out for sure.

and the sun is out, so you go to the walmart that is 17 miles away instead of the one 5 miles away.

So, I went to the pet store for canned cat food for "King Kitty"....17 miles away. Today I noticed that cars weren't flying by as fast as they usually do, so I look at my speedo, needle was past the last line, so I think I need an electronic speedo now. A great problem to have

That is pretty sweet! Did you remove the mechanical speedometer from the front wheel all together then?

One question for you Roy.. Is that speedo a magnetic pick up, or cable driven? I'm weighing options. I'm thinking a magnetic pick up may be more accurate, but the cable would be an easier install than mounting and gapping a sensor. Either way, it is going to be a minor undertaking doing the fab work. I see carbon fiber in the near future! lol
