So after reading this yesterday i looked online for something that I might be able to feel comfortable in and is also in a sort of affordable price range and thought maybe I could wear something like this, UNDER a baggy t-shirt; www.revzilla.com/motocross/troy-lee-bp-7850-hot-weather-armored-shirtAlthough it does not protect elbow down, they have a long sleeve version too for the same price. I wonder though if it will look odd at all, or fit the shape of my upper body under a shirt. Does anyone own one of these? Generally Motocross Armor which is designed for hitting loose packed dirt tracks will not provide much protection from a paved roadway. You can get a real armored mesh jacket designed for street use for similar or even at half the cost of that particular MotoCross shirt.

I would look at rockys earlier link: www.leatherup.com/p/Mens-Mesh-Motorcycle-Jackets/Xelement-Mens-Silver-Igniter-Tri-Tex-Fabric-and-Mesh-Motorcycle-Jacket/53267.htmlGood protection on the cheap. I didn't need another jacket but for that price I ordered one.

I have been wearing mine every time I ride which is about 1.5 hours daily for the past 2.5 years and it has been through the washing maching every 2 to 8 weeks depending on the season. It is now starting to show some wear and I am considereing ordering an exact replacement while they are still available.

Not a bad list rocky but I would spend more than $50 on a helmet especially if its modular...

Funny you should say that, because in my white armored jacket, helmet, gauntlet gloves, leggings and boots I look like an Imperial Storm Trooper on a scoot.

Rocky's post, is a horrible story what happen to his buddy. The xelement jacket says it's a level-3 armor and that it's the highest level of protection, so I should be looking for one with a level 3? Actually that xelement jacket is not all bad and is cheap, I wonder if they have one in black, cause white gets dirty fast.
Since this post I been wearing a hoody jacket, cause I can't afford a jacket at the moment, not maybe till next month. Currently I am wearing a bell revolver evo modular flip helmet and ride with it full face, regular generic boots, and fox racing polarpaw gloves. I actually only own 1 pair of pants, and a whole lot of baggy jeans shorts, because of the weather conditions here, but will be buying some more jeans pants when I can. I think the gloves I am wearing are more for grip and maybe some skin protection but maybe won't do much for bones.

Happy to hear you're going to be gearing up.
Another thing about Saftey gear is getting over black. I know its cool looking and has been the color of choice for bikers for years but it works against you. People dont see the guy in black well.
HiVis. I know its the color of road workers everywhere. They wear it because they want to live and so should we. No it doesn't say "biker" like black does but you will be seen.
Besides if you're concerned about being hot blacks the worst choice.

My armored jacket is bright yellow with some black accent stripes, very visible, and in the Kroger parking lot today a woman looked straight at me and almost pulled right into me. She looked straight at me and still apparently didn't see me.

Hi Viz Blaze Orange Pants.....Kinda goofy looking but I am about as visible as I can be without putting flashing LEDs on the back of my vest.

My jacket's pink and white. Folks seem to give me a respectable distance.
I will say, 'soldier, you might not get the same reaction in pink.... ;D
But yeah, definitely avoid the black as that's a heat-absorber. Get the silver one, you'll look hot without feeling very hot. Plus just wash it when it gets too dirty. Just be sure to remove the armor first!
As for stupid drivers, like I just told Mums, I'm not counting on those other drivers not hitting me. I'm counting on me not hitting them! If you depend on the other person to keep you safe, you won't be. Car or bike.
