I bought a used jonway yy50qt-28a moped. It's my first one, so i wanted to know how to remove the gas cap. I read the manual and followed the instructions, but the cap would barely budge when I turned it. Also look at it, why wold someone make a gas cap like this that is so hard to turn? It was super hard to get it off, and after about 10-15min it finally popped off, but i had cuts on my fingers. I looked online for aftermarket gas caps for scooters, like one with a small twist handle, but they didnt have a lock. I seriously cant find one on amazon or ebay that is like a easy twist with or without lock. i don't know if a lock is really that important since the places i plan to park will usually always be crowded with people, but i figure that its best no matter what. Does anyone know where i can find a good universal gas cap thats easy to pop off?

My dealer told me to turn the knob instead of with the key since he has had a few people break the key off in em . This seems to look similar as its a cap and complete key set but I would call before ordering to make sure www.scrappydogscooters.com/B-series_chassis_parts.html

I noticed that Chinese one, you'd also have to order 200 sets.
Is your gas cap in the open? I thought most scooters, it was under the seat. Mine is on the hump between my feet, but is also covered by a panel. If yours isn't in the open, do you really need a locking cap? 'cause if not, that might give you more options.
I know I'm not mechanical at all, but I can't begin to figure out how that cap's supposed to come off. What, do you pry it off? My car's and my scooter's and my old John Deere's and my old push-mower, they all had screw-on caps. When did someone decide that was a flawed design and come up with what you've got? Ick. What a terrible design!

That lock looks exactly like mine. You have to push down on the cap while you turn it with the key (in the lock)... I think... something like that.... You sure you are doing it right?

I did buy the bike used, so it might not be the oem cap, and yes the gas cap is out in the open, and not hidden anywhere. I attempted to do all sorts of ways to open it, not according to the manual in the 10 min i tried to get it off, since it didn't work. All of a sudden it just kinda popped up, and I don't remember what method I was using when I did it. Then when I tried to put it back, I lined it up and turned it. It was hard to turn it in too. i feel like you shouldnt need so much force to turn something especially since the cap doesnt have any good grip.

Mine, when you are putting the cap back on, you dont turn. Just pop it on with the arrows lined up, while the key is in the cap.

In the picture it shows the cap 180 degrees out of alignment with the location arrow on the bike.

Yep, it looks just like my Honda cap (without the beautiful chrome) turn key and it pops up. You may want to lube the latching mechanism...
