Relatively new scooter with 139qmb engine. It runs great, but will not charge the battery. I changed the rectifier and still no charge. It also has a loose connection somewhere as it will not start sometimes unless you bump it up onto the center stand, then the gas gauge starts working, the horn works and it will start with the electric starter. I only mention this because they MAY be related.

If you have the glass type fuse , they are known for poor connection .

Is the fuse where it charges through?

Check all the wiring and connections. On my first scooter I ended up changing the harness. It might be the harness that has to be changed.

on a car, if the alternator is not charging and you disconnect the battery, the car will die. I tried that with the scooter and it continued to run, but showed no DC voltage across the wires with the battery disconnected.
The fuse looks like it is in tact, but my question is, "Does the charging circuit come through the fuse"?

The red wire that has the fuse on it is the one that charges the battery. just go threw and make sure all the wires are clean and tight make sure you have no bare wires hiting the frame.check your fuse to. check all wires all you can locate.

I actually went to autozone, and for 3 or 4 bucks you can get a new in line fuse box that will take the new style little square fuses. works great and much easier to find if something happens while ur out, most gas stations carry them. easy fix to the finicy glass buss fuses. Just saying.

I just changed my stator to the one from my old bike. Its been used for about 2 days at most. But ever since I put it in on either bikes the battery wont charge. Now I gotta spend more time putting the stock one back on. But yea New bike charged fine. Then I changed the stator to a suspected bad one and no charge. When i'm done changing it back i'll let you know the results.

The red wire coming off the battery with the fuse feeds the Ignition which in turn feeds some of the lights and accessories. There is a separate wire coming from the R/R connecting to the positive post on the battery that does the charging. Alleyoop

UPDATE
I rode today and my battery randomly started charging?
Its weird before my battery was charged and died and wouldn't charge so I charged it with a wall charger. Then it died again, like lights were barely noticeable with engine off. Then today they were bright and its been charging.

All the giggling and reconnecting likely solved it, for now. There is still probably an issue in there... Hope I'm wrong

UPDATE#2: Battery stooped charging again. And when I rev the engine hard or soft the lights come on for a split sec then goes away. I was riding a short distance and didn't feel like connecting the battery to save it for later and the lights got super bright so I immediately pulled over because I knew they were being over volted. And of course my right tuning lights blew and my tail light, but my break light is still good. Haven't had time to change the part back but i'm pissed I have have the lights on my bike and no money for 2 day to get it fixed so toorrow morning i'm changing it back and i'll post the results
