I've decided after fooling with the engine I have now and replaceing parts that its prob better at this point to start fresh. I have spent 170$ on parts for my jinlun QT that i paid 200$ for and still havent solved its problems. The good news is all the performance parts I have aquired can be used on a new GY6. Carb, coil, ect. Question is does anyone recomend a place to order it from? Cheapest what have you?

I just removed my intake boot to find that the gasket was broken in 8 pieces. I would imagine that's the problem for not starting.

I adjusted my valves, however I didn't have a gauge and a buddy told me to use a matchbook cover, he said that was right at .004''. Anybody have any input? It did start with the start button but I had to work the throttle to get it to start for 20 or 30 sec. I dont what else to do with this scoot short of ordering an engine. I just cant get it to start right, I'm running out of idea's

I don't have any valve gauges, is there anything else I can use to set the valves on my 139QMB?

So if the start button turns the engine over then the brake safty switch is bypassed. cause my scoot will turn over but wont start. im getting gas and spark. just replaced my carb. coil.pkug and cdi. fuel line and filter. i got it kick started a few times by kicking it. Ran fine once it started butn nwont start with push button. and i have to kick on it forever to get it to start. useing the star button it acts like it tryin to start but wont.

I cant get my scoot to electricaly start. It will kick start after a while of kicking it. So basicaly it wont star. Runs great when it does start. Ive replaced the carb. the cdi. the plug. new fuel line and filter. new batt.new coil. I did find that the brake safty switch had been removed and the two wires were conected together. idk if this matters. the start button turns the engine over. im ata loss for ideas. anyone?

[replyingto=thewizard13]thewizard13[/replyingto]I just got my first scoot about a month ago(2009 jinlun JLQT50-4) It didnt drive when I got it, but would start and somewheat run. I figured "theres not much to the thing, and im good fixin are cars i'll take it" What I found out is that these chinese scoots are really simple to work on. I can disamble my scoot to the point I can get to every aspect of the motor in about 20 min. As well as the reverse. Diagnostics on these scoots is a different story. The are so delicatly made with cheap parts that the smallest quirk upsets every aspect. As I said, I don't have any experiance working on these scoots myself. Parts are cheap online, and normaly u can get a good guess what the problem is but putting the pieces together on how its running. I myself just diagnose my problem to what would normaly cause an engine to run like this? Then narrow it down piece by piece. I bought my scoot for 200$, the previous owner told me he had recently cleaned the carb after a long sit and he didn't get it clean enough, so im thinking, well at worst i'll buy a new carb (39.99) To date I have 370$ in it and she still is haveing some problems starting (CDI) I have purcased New 20mm carb, new high performance ignition coil, new battery. Not to bad... I just need a new CDI (20$) I think thats the last piece of the puzzle. Point being is get ur hands dirty, nose around that thing, its a breeze to turn a wrench on. YOUTUBE is always a good friend on How-To-Do's, as well as alot of bright people on this form that have gone through some of the same problems.

I have a few dealer's in town that deal in scooter part's. Although i've seen the exact same part's online for nearly 30-40% cheaper. I've also looked online for parts for what has seemed like hours looking for the best, cheapest and larger inventoryed dealers. The best i've found is scrappydogscooter's.com. What is everyone's recomendations? Thanx, ive got to order parts tomarrow and would love to find a online store that is fair priced with more than one differnt cdi, or carb or whatever it may be(more fariety) I suppose.......

This attached pic is the variator im looking into getting. Has anyone used it? If so with a slightly modded rig( performance CDI, Ignition Coil, 20mm CVK Carb) will it give it anymore speed? If so which gram slidders do I need to get with it? They come in 4,5, and 6 Attachments:

Does it give you any more performace to change the main jet to a bigger one? If so which one would be good for a 20mm carb with a stock 139qmb?
