So I installed the 4g sliders since the 5g sliders limited my rev again...
Took out the scoot today... getting less than 30mph and barely climbing, wouldn't go over 7k rpm.
After all of these mods, what's the deal?

I had 4g rollers and got nice RPM and top speed. Then tried 5g sliders, and it went down, so I tried 4g sliders. Could it have anything to do with the new exhaust? I have a jetting kit coming in a few days, I will attempt to upjet. Any other ideas in the meantime?

No big bore kit? I would say your jetting is too high.

I was able to get up to 50mph today! What exactly is happening? When I'm at WOT, it doesn't go anywhere, then I throttle back for a bit, then I WOT again and get a boost. Can someone please explain what is going on? Also, when I get my jet kit, do I go up or down? Thanks!

Can someone please explain what is going on? idk... wind effects my top speed by a lot. sometimes i can't get over 30mph if facing a strong breeze but with an ounce of wind at my back i have got it up to 52 with the rpm's at 8530 and it was still increasing. sounded like the valves where beginning to float so i backed off. not saying wind is your problem... just saying it is difficult to know the top speed of these 50cc scooters because a lite breeze will drastically effect performance.

I ran a then a MJ with a 50mm BBK so your running too rich down jet for a 50c will help .

In the past and I don't know how much has improved in 13 years of vacuum operated petcock design , but the vacuum petcock if not given an adequate amount of vacuum can starve the carb at WOT . Like the carb is sucking up the same amount of fuel as the petcock can deliver or slightly more . Several bikes I had worked on in the past would do the same thing and when I would replace the petcock with a manual one the problem went away . Anyone else ever run into this or can tell me how efficient these little scooter petcocks are on fuel delivery ?

With too large of a MJ the scooter can not use the extra fuel as good a proper sized MJ . Read this great page of derestricting tips as you may have the restricter washer in the variator
An auto pecock eliminates having to open a close a manual valve type . Most scooters have the engine covered by the body , where a motorcycle ( except crotch rockets with fairings ) everything is exposed and easy to get to . The vacuum diaphragm helps pump the fuel as a small engine only uses a sip and when they tank is higher than the carb gravity is all that is needed . A manual valve can reduce the bowl from flooding when sitting up and reserve has been a best friend on my two wheel toys that did not have a fuel gauge . Now those with the fuel tank in the floorboard can have fuel delivery issues at top RPM and many install a vacuum Mikuni fuel pump or electric one . You can easily install a manual pecock if you want to as long as you can access it . I have seen several who forgot to open the valve ride off and stall the engine . My motorcycles and mopeds had a manual valve except for my scooters and I never once had a problem . I think I read on Scootertronics web site where they replace fuel and vacuum lines , fuel filter , larger idle and main jet , and install a manual valve pecock on scoots they tweak

You usually put sliders in that are about 1 gram lighter than the rollers which you are replacing.
