I put on new vaariator, and clutch, applied lock tight and torqued both clutch and variator nut to 42 ft lbs...I watched to video on youtube on replacing the belt..Sad to say but my because of carpal tunnel in both hands (wrists (whatever) ) I cannot get the pulley half to come open for me to put the belt on...So now what?? Someone suggested to me to use an 8" gear puller to bring the clutch half in...I don't know at whits end and hands hurting a lot at this point...

I am assuming it is the standard chinese GY6 cvt you are working on. Are you stuck with the belt on the front but can't get the belt on the clutch or stuck getting the variator off and the belt is not on at all?

If you have a big set of Adjustable pliers use that: Alleyoop

Both new Variator and new clutch are on but belt is not...I can get it on over variator fan plate but not clutch... We know all that: Take the Variator OFF and you have to open the Clutch pulley use big pliers and push the belt down all you need is to get the belt down about 1 inch down in the CLUTCH PULLEY then you can get the belt to go over the BOSS then you can put the VARIATOR FAN on and nut. If you cannot get the belt down in the CLUTCH PULLEY you will have to get someone to help you. Alleyoop

this is simple , with the variator on and the drive face off put the belt on the clutch, then put the belt around as much of the threads of the drive shaft as you can , then squeeze the middle of the belt together , this will pull the belt into the clutch and then you have the room to move the belt onto the variator spacer and now install the drive face. you may need to sqeeze the belt into the clutch a couple times to get the drive face on straight . very quick and easy no need for pliers or any tools to open the clutch. hope u understand.

i dont like grabbing the inner clutch pully with anything metal . you do not want to put any scratches on any area that the belt travels on. i know many do thos and havent scratched the pulley but there is always that chance especially with the pressure pf the main spring. i would hate for the pliers to slip

This is not rocket science, but you have to understand the man has problems with his hands and his hands are not strong so he needs an idea that may work for his disability. A pair of pliers makes the job very easy and to not scratch the pulley face just put a piece of cloth on the end of the pliers no scratches no damage, BADA BING, BADA BOOM. Alleyoop

it wouldve helped to tell him that first it takes more strength even with pliers to open the clutch then to do what i suggested. thats the reason i offered the easy way

My clutch pulley opens easier when I grab the pulley half with my fingers and have my palms on the front of the clutch. Then I simultaneously turn the pulley half to the right with my fingers--all while pulling. I'm not sure I've ever tried opening the pulley just by pulling towards me.
I understand the situation, but thought I'd throw that out there.

Also, I have yet to take off a belt on my scoot with BOTH pulleys still on. My clutch sits in the case too far for me to do it---- unlike the pic above.

Try tapping a plastic or wooden wedge in between it,,that should work if your hands are weak...
