They say things like that at first until they end up following behind you and can't keep up. Some co-workers gave one of the Majesty riders quite a bit of that get a real bike nonsense at first until that Ex-MotoCross Racer blew them all away carving up a winding road. They then claimed that he set them up with a motorcycle disguised as a scooter.
Had one guy insist on calling my Aprilia a "Moped" so I took him on a "Moped" ride. I think he is still shaking. Not sure if it was from due to how high the passenger sits on the Sport City, simply the act of pulling on to the Interstate or if it was staying in the left lane and passing all the slow traffic in the 70 mph zone.
He dosn't make fun of the bike any more.
I have lost the link that I had to an article about a group of mature writers from a sport bike magazine that were given the opportunity to ride in a mixed class sport bike race. They did not find out untill they stopped to pick up their bikes that they were all going to be riding Maxi-Scooters including the 400cc Majesty, T-Max, Scarabo 500 and Burgman 650.
The scooters all finished in the upper half of the pack and the Burgman 650 was in one of the top spots running with the lead bikes but did not win. Lost my copy of the article when my computer crashed and have not found the link to it since.

That's it isn't it Rock, Those that make fun of these scoots have never ridden one... Have no Idea just what scooters are capable of... They are basing their opinions on Ignorance not experience.. When Fawkes was a Stroker, I was doing 35 on a hill I call "Scooter Killer" It's just a steep hill that will reduce a 50cc scooters speed to almost nothing, any way I went into that hill at 35 MPH, came out of it doing 45.. All I was actually doing was giving myself some space from the cars behind me, didn't know the cars behind me were my coworkers, needless to say they were very surprised a scooter could do that... They made sure to tell me once they arrived at work that they were behind me and it was them I was leaving behind... Again ignorance, they are comparing all scooters to the performance of a 50cc.... I was happy that day to educate them....

One of the only things that I like about becoming a senior citizen is the attitude that I don't care what people think anymore! When I was young, I cared a great deal and drove big, powerful motorcycles! Well, after years of injuries and surgeries to the knee, shoulder, and neck...my SYM RV250 is fantastic! I'll be 60 next month and I have a lot of aches and pains. I'm at the point that I just can't ride the hogs anymore. Hard to get the leg over, hard to push it around, hard to hold it up...so, what's the alternative? Give up riding...or get into scooting! Since I have gotten my Maxi-Scooter, I have loved it! I actually get compliments on it and some of the hard core riders just say, hey, you're still on two wheels and got the wind in your face! Ride on!

Just remind him that no matter WHAT he rides, YOU'RE still the boss...
Back in the day, I had a sign behind my desk that read: "COMPANY RULES"
Rule #1: THE BOSS IS ALWAYS RIGHT.
Rule #2. If the boss is wrong, REFER TO RULE #1.
It's good to be king...

I have one of these and I love it. I made a few changes to mine though. The data plate on mine states that it was manufactured by Bashan Motorcycle factory. The engine is a copy of the Honda Cub horizontal engine which gives you a lot of choices engine wise since it is identical to the engines found in pit bikes. I replaced the engine in mine with a 125cc engine made by Jialing which gave me more torque and power, a more familiar shift pattern, a manual clutch, and still retained electric start. I liked it before but I love it now. My concern was slowing down while going up hills around town which irritates other drivers. I no longer have that problem and since we have a 30 mph speed limit in town I'm not likely to out run the suspension or brakes.

Yep, scooters are nothing but little kid's toys. Just look at the video and see for yourself.

I've owned three scoots so far, and all of them were real bikes. All needed respect in their own ways. All three had there own riding challenges. The Aprillia I ride now, is capable of plus mph. Is it a real bike? You bet your fur. Even my 150 was able to do almost 60mph (gps not indicated).... Isn't that faster then a lot of the "real" bikes from the 60's and 70's? My 250.... it's good for a solid 65mph.... I think it's a real bike as well.

For me a lot of the consideration into buying a scoot was cost. What quality m/c can you buy brand new for 2k? I'm through with fast and freeway riding on 2 wheels, too dangerous in a major metro area, too many idiots. As I'm getting older it's just about fun and enjoying the ride. 163cc is big enough for me.

Before I purchased my scooter, I told the people at work that was my plan. They all got a kick out of it, then I got it. they had their remarks, stupid comments, and now 1 year later. They have seen it here every day, it has never left me stranded, I have spent approx 500.00 in gas to go 8,000 miles. When somebody new comes in and makes a comment, now the other guys step in and defend me. They also now are asking where they can purchase one.
Just typical behavior from people, but when you can show them how little it costs to operate they eventually grow up a bit

Isn't advertising wonderful?

If someone gives me trouble I ask them a simple question: "What does it cost you for gas to commute to work every month?" and wait for the answer which is usually $250 to $350 per month. Then I tell them that since I chose the right bike it only costs me $25 and I still have a bike that can run the Interstate all day.
Thats around $475 for $8,000 miles.
