Thanks for the reply and I will check the belt (why that didnt dawn on me to check duh lol). Yea I think if u take care of most things n can do maintenance (and dont mind doing it) perhaps a chinese moped may be ok. I just wanted something I can ride n go with little issues as possible. I love keeping things clean (I use to own a detailing business)! So doing that I enjoy but mdchanical stuff other then ur basics id rather not deal with so hoping my genuine lives up to the hype. Thanks again it was a gd video and link! If u know anymore gd review sites or videos id love to see them as i love jumping b headfirst into infirmation of things that im into!! Sometimes I think I enjoy reading about this stuff as I do riding lol!

Hey everyone, I just joined this forum n wanted to say hello and tell everyone how much I appreciate this little corner of the web dedicated to moped fun! As well as having somewhere to go where others appreciate this hobby! Here is a quick background on myself, im a 29 year old guy who before the "great recession" had a motorcycle and bought my wife a little red scooter. Me and her had a blast on that thing, doing all kinds of things (stuff we unknowlingly didnt know were illegal in mi anyway) like double riding, riding on sidewalks, and not registering it ect. You see I didnt realize scooters had the same rules with a few diffrent ones as vehicles on the road. So a long story short, its been 6 years and I no longer have or had my motorcycle or are little moped/scooter for all this time, (can someone tell me the diffrence between the two?). So I was getting the itch again to get a motorcycle but did not want to spend the $$. So after remebering how much fun we had on the previous scooter I decided to go and start my search for a manly looking moped last late summer and I came across the tao tao vip super champion. It looked gd was only $775 n I bought 2! One for the wife and myself. Within a week I sold hers as she doesnt feel gd driving it and would rather ride with me (I know I know). After I did some more research and found countless articles on crap chinese mopeds I got scared and sold mine as it was almost winter anyways. I told myself and the wife well buy a good reliable moped this spring! So spring is here and what did I do? I bought another tao tao vip super champion because for some reason the look of that moped I really like and I have heard good things about tao tao if u take care of them. But I again after watching a few you tube videos got scared again And after honestly telling my buddy about chinese scooters n the risk he bought it. So finally after deciding to quit screwing around and buy a quality moped I came across a dealer selling the genuine brand, the place was actually on my way to a kycmo dealer to buy the super 8 150cc...After noticing the build quality, the kickass looks of the roughhouse and the reviews online using my smartphone, plus discussing everything with the owner of the place I decided to buy this awesome manly looking, QUALITY BUILT moped! What sealed the deal was getting to test drive this 2 stroke n I fell in love lol. So I had it destricted and prepped and now have 62miles on her and its been a blast!! I now have 2 questions for all you moped enthusiast's!! 1. Have any of you owned a tao tao vip champion for any decent amount of time and can comment on the reliability of one?
2. Anybody know what the noise on my roughhouse 50 might be, it sounds like when u would put a playing deck card in your bicycle spokes as I ride. Sounds flapping noise as I speed up gets more pronnounced and quieter as I slow down. The noise has gone away n sometimes comes back but mostly gone away. Is it just a break in noise?
