I have never done much home improvements but I'm more of an artist type. What home improvements have you done? pics? I'm trying to get into it.
I have some pretty major ones that are needed at my Mom's house. Mainly wood and painting. The house on the outside has begun to rot a little bit. Normal things for a 30 year old house I guess .
But for now I'm tackling some easier ones. Shelving units, painting and cauking. Later will come yardwork also. Ie. trying to get the grass to grow right.
Mom does a lot of stone work in the front yard, and she is envisioning a stone and/or wood walkway and deck in the back.
I don't really care to do this sort of work, but it must be done, right? lol

I'm trying to turn chores into tasks that I somewhat enjoy or get a kick out of it. That way it's not as much work as it is reward

I just got finished digging and creating a fish pond in my backyard. It is a rather small one, about 200 gallons, but it was hard work. I have about 10 goldfish / koi in it as well as a few frogs and snails. I enjoyed creating it so much that I am now planning an addition to it for next year.

howdy, i just harvested my cherry crop----both cherries and ate them on the spot. yummmm and i beat the birds to them too. the grape arbor and small birdhouses with flat stone paving it nice. no more projects----for at least a few days. i do want to get the fountain out front working which hasn't been tried since i bought the house a year ago. now concentrate on cleaning out the garage so a car will fit instead of only the scooter.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken

I love doing the electrical work, installing new switches, new lights, outlets, etc. It's just so easy how could you not replace them with shiny new ones?! I do a lot of work around the house, painting, carpentry, plumbing, anything you're supposed to pay a professional for I normally have to learn how to do it. I'm more of an artistic type too, but then you just turn your work into an art project! Like, when I painted my brother's room I painted a really big yin-yang with chess pieces as the little circles. I hate doing household chores, but I love doing work on the house, or even the yard.

I'd love to do more. Unfortunately when we bought our house, we were both serving and didn't have time to take on a project so we bought a new-build. There's some jobs I've done, basics really, curtain rails, picture hanging etc. the closest to real DIY so far has been tiling behind the cooker. I've got a bathroom to tile this winter though (why do they give you an en-suite with a shower, and a main bathroom, with a bath and shower head in it, but not tile the whole wall, or put a shower curtain up, etc?!) so guests don't have to choose between using our shower, or waiting 9 years for the bath to fill.
With the garden, I love doing the work, but can't get motivated unless I get something physical out of it. So I just have my (gorgeous) lawn, and all the plants are crops: I've got carrots, broccoli and marrow out at the moment, with kale growing in pots in the green "hut" (it's just one of those little plastic temporary green houses) and tomatoes, onions and cauliflower just gone in as seeds in cultivators. Cause we had such a crap spring, I actually lost an entire batch of chillis, and will probably need to Polly-Tunnel a lot of stuff come Autumn.

The house on the outside has begun to rot a little bit. that sounds like a lot of work. i doubt i would tackle that project by myself but painting, putting up shelves and yard work is easy enough.

Yeah, I don't know the first thing about replacing the wood from rot, but I am doing the shelving units and just had to cauk the garage door where it was rotted and painted over it. Later the door will have to be replaced, this is just a temp fix. The front railing needs the same treatment. Some of it I'm replacing now and some of it I'm cauking and painting.
If I put on my earbuds and music it is not as boring!
