scheduled to work a short shift this morning (5am-9am). just coming in to unload a truck. was up early noticed it was raining so i kept a close eye on the weather map hoping to find a window of opportunity so i could make it to work dry. it let up but never stopped so running out of time i left in the rain. took a different route than normal trying to avoid getting stuck at a light. early morning the lights are not on a timer and my scoot never triggers the sensor. came to an intersection about halfway to my job, cruising near 40mph in the far right lane, looking for cross traffic. ok coast is clear and i'm nearly through the intersection when i see through the darkness a curb about 3 feet in front of me. scoot went left, i played superman landing on my shoulder then slid through the wet grass. luckily landing on grass and no hard obstacles in the way. ugh! pulled a muscle in my neck/shoulder but more embarrassed than hurt. i didn't even tell anyone at work, that's how embarrassing it was/is. ruined a shirt wiping the mud off my face. lol you guys are the first to hear my stupid mistake. who knew the right lane was going to end? not me.

Whenever I'm on a bicycle I always tend to wipe out like that. Whether it's turning on to a sidewalk or hitting something in the road. I've skid in the road on my scooter and fallen over quite a few times too (before I got my pirelli tires that is). Once I tried driving on ice roads and my scooter did a full 360 in the road after I fell off of it. Then a few weeks ago I ran over some grass clippings and my bike slid out from under me. etc. No worries though. You just wipe off the dust and pick yourself back up and get right back to riding Good thing you're okay.

I have close ones almost every day we have alot of thick gravel in the rv park and it really keeps you on your toes not to hit the ground.
Glad your allrite I saw a pic on here weher someone went down and hit palms first made me start wearing leather gloves

I saw a pic on here weher someone went down and hit palms first made me start wearing leather gloves i must have slid 50-75 feet on grass, my scoot 75-100' on wet concrete. i don't ever want to experience anything like this on dry concrete. i do have gloves and helmet... seriously making me consider investing in more protection.

Sorry, but I CAN'T relate. (as I have NEVER done ANYTHING stoopid or embarrassing on a scoot!) Hi You have my best wishes and prayers for a swift and full recovery Take care and ride safely my friend Yours Hank thx hank, if i was in perfect shape i may have walked away unscratched. i injured my neck 7 years ago. it hasn't bothered me much in many months until this morning. Whenever I'm on a bicycle I always tend to wipe out like that. Good thing you're okay. thx, i took a spill on my bicycle 4 months ago going about 5 mph and was in 10x more pain than i am today.

i wiped out in a gas station parking lot last year they had just sprayed it with water went to turn and down i went, the lot was full everyone looked away as if they didn't see anything no one even asked if i was ok, guess its better that way i ran to my scoot as soon as i stopped sliding partially because i wanted to pick it up so gas didn't leak everywhere but mostly because i wanted to avoid anyone seeing me. I almost had an accident today too, took a back road to work, the road is very curvie and I hit the top of a sharp turn leaning right near yellow line and her comes a truck coming and he is near his yellow line, we passed each other, I'd say there was less then two feet between us scary! ramblinman,Glad your pretty much Ok. you'll probably be really sore tomorrow. Don't Feel bad, we've all had Kodak moments!!! Thank God, no one is around with a kodak most of the time. Ten years ago 6 buddy's & I had been riding in north Ga. mountains all week end. Well over 600 miles. That night on way home I go to stop at my local watering hole. We usually park on side walk up front, but no room. So I pull in a parking space to slip on oil slick and Bruised My pride mostly...Ohhh my But too. Dave definitely can relate to bruised my pride. i'll probably be sore for a few weeks. it's an old injury that was fine this morning but is never going to heal completely.

howdy, yup, been there. glance off the rear of a car that stopped for no apparent reason. scoot down, helmet hit road, kinda confused, someone picked up scoot and moved it to the sidewalk and put the sidestand down. when i was ready to continue on, i stood the scoot up and tried to start it with no success. after a few minutes there thinking, realized i had not retracted sidestand. when that was done the scoot started , like whazzup?. some ambarassment and a little residual soreness for a few days.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken

That is one reason I avoid traveling near the curb whenever possible especially on an unfamiliar route. Learn and grow from this and add another blessing to the list of those you have already been afforded. The blessing is that you walked away and learned something that you probably need to follow through on now. If the Silver Ignitor Level 3 Armored Mesh Jacket is still available from Leather Up you may want to make it part of your consideration.
