Hello everyone. New guy here. Was on old boards as Fiji150. I sold the Fiji, and i have a Roketa Type 79 250CC on truck in route to me right now as we speak. Excited to get it and get it all taken care of. Got all PDI supplies ready to go. Just thought i would drop in and say HI.. I am in Central IL. Wasnt sure if anyone else on here was in my area. We used to have a scooter store in town. Lasted about 6 months. WAY overpriced... I bought my Fiji 150 used, and had it for 2 years with 0 issues. LOVED it.. Just want a lil more speed and room. So i ordered the Type 79. Was gonna get the 54B, but was out of stock. Happy Scootin

Great scooter the Roketa 79 250cc. I am in Madison WI but it seems the midwest is being taken over by scooters lol! Congrats check out my mod upgrades in the picture area of the forum. I suggest you upgrade your tires to Michelin Pure SC tires really good grip in rain. I road the stock ones about 2 thousand miles and the back went flat.

Thanks for the advice. I will keep the tires in mind. My only things i am doing to it when i do PDI is Cig lighter under seat for cell charger, and GPS mount. Other than that, gonna get it going and work on it from there. I am not much into modding. Did absolutely nothing to the Fiji in 2 years. Accept maintenance.

Yeah I was doing 68mph on the highway and thats when the back tire when flat. I mean those tires are rated at 65 mph. I upgraded to the Michelin pure SC tires rated at top speed 112. These things are just lasting forever with little wear.

I live probably just north of you, an hour from Chicago in McHenry, IL, and soft Pirelli SL26 tires have suited my needs for these Illinois roads. Whatever tire you choose, it is probably the number one upgrade. Driving, to me, now is like driving on air compared to my old tires, and they stick to the road very nicely. Maybe your stock tires are good to begin with though, who knows. May your Roketa serve you for years to come

Yes cruiser, that is the Scoot i got coming. I got it in Black. Tracking says i should be receiving it on 06/03. lykos23, i am in Bloomington, IL. So we are about an hour or so apart. Illinois roads are horrid for sure. I have ran accross potholes bigger than my wheels before. Definately got to watch the roads here. Again, ridecheap, thanks for your info. Much appreciated. Ready to get my scoot prepped and on the road.

[replyingto=type79]type79[/replyingto]Regarding the roads; absolutely, I've seen road patches worse than big speed bumps, pot holes bigger than my wheel, and just plain cracks and shotty roads everywhere. One route I take to the store has a sunk in manhole that has almost knocked me off of my bike on more than one occasion. Not to mention the insane bumps where the railroad tracks meet the roads... It doesn't help that McHenry was built on a swamp either. Gotta love Illinois roads. Despite this, my pirelli's still make it seem like I'm riding on air, when I'm not driving over the bigger bumps, it's an absolute must to upgrade the tires when driving in road conditions like these. Then again, I seldom take the main roads which are admittedly a little, tiny bit, better. Good luck in finding the perfect tire!

Well, the Scooter got here yesterday. Shipping company stuck a forklift into the front and put a hole in the sideskirt. So i got a claim in to get new body panels. Who knows how long that will be. They seem pretty good at the place i got it. So hopefully quick. Other than that, i did my PDI. It fired right up and runs good. Only real issue is as soon as i turn the key on the cooling fan comes on. It runs non stop. SO i have to figure out that. Any ideas? ?? Also, it vibrates a lot at lower rpm's. Until i hit around 30mph. I assume its due to only having 3 miles on it, and it will break in and run smoother down the line. I am also used to the 150 i had. SO the bigger motor might be the reason too. I like the look and feel otherwhise. Just got a few more kinks to work out before i get out on the road. ANy help with cooling fan would be appreciated. I dont mind if it is on. Just dont want battery drained on me when not wanted. Paul

OK, so figured out the problem with the fan running all the time. The place i bought it from had the 2 wires twisted together instead of going through the sensor like it should. SO the fan ran all the time. I got it hooked up to the sensor now like it should, and problem seems solved. I let it run for a bit while i adjusted the idle. Fan kicked on when temp guage got a lil above half way. So that is fixed. Next thing is the crappy stock fuse. It wasnt getting a good connection and scotter wouldnt start. Had to pinch it tighter until tomorrow when i can change it.
