Regarding 3 wheel trikes > Which is the preferred type -two wheels in front or in the rear ? Is one type more practical then the other?

I dont know but I saw a reverse trike the other day, a few of them actually
They look fun , I beleive on some the front suspension flexes in crazy ways to give it some "lean" in the turns.

I agree with geh3333.
I've actually ridden both: a standard Harley trike, and a Piaggio reverse trike. The harley was plain boring after a while. Yes, it's FAST... but it's as close to driving a car as you can get wihle still being considered a motorcycle. After a while, it's just boring... and loud. Jeez they're loud. The Piaggio was a blast! Like Domindart touched on, the front suspension allows for nearly full lean. You can just about touch your knee on the ground with all 3 wheels still on the ground. If they weren't so blasted expensive, I'd buy one.
If you're an old man past your prime but still loves wearing leather, a standard trike is just the thing for you. If you're still into having fun and loving the ride, a reverse trike is for you.
However, if what you saw was a Can-Am type reverse trike, I have no experience with them, but they seem to be a good middle ground.

I have a Dongfang (sunny) 150cc reverse trike. I thoroughly enjoy the ride every time I'm riding her. The lean factor is to be learned, which is easy, and important. The cam am people are not happy with their turning situation. I have to say i have not ridden a trike but I've ridden a large tricycle , and the turns can't be as smooth as a leaning reverse trike. Their are issues out there concerning shakes and wobbles, but if the front end is set up properly, the ride is as cool as it looks. Hands down.....reverse trike!

It depends on what reverse trike your thinking about. I've ridden the BRP Can am amd it's s fine machine. Smooth, fast and handleing that is now beyond predictable. It also will set you back a bunch of bucks.
I've also ridden a chineese "knock-off" of the can am that was cool. It was a bit slow and although it can be said that the handleing is predictable you "drive" it as opposed to riding it. Without the computer stabilizing of the can am it can be a bit of a bronco. Lots of fun but no room for daydreaming. The high point it will only do about 50 mph tops and that's just fine, any faster and the bike would be very squirrly.
Owned a MP3 for a while but it just wasn't for me. The mix of trike and scooter just seemed strange, to me anyway.
Never ridden the Sunny RT/s but those who own them seem to be happy. There were major issues with both types of chineese RT/s early on but it seems that's been reduced.
If you buy a chinees RT it will be important to learn to set up the front end yourself. Hard to find shops that will do that kind of work.
All the best.

I love my "classic style" trikes. I will not own one with two wheels in front. To me they look funny.

I am with you TRIKER, the new REVERSE trikes you need a block to make a turn they have a wide turning radius. One guy was making a right turn onto a street and he almost went into the oncoming lane due to the wide radius turns it takes on them. Alleyoop

You do have a learning curve when turning a RT but it is a matter of slowing down to the appropriate speed for the radius of turn, just like on every other motor vehicle. Every one is different.. They will turn around in the width of a two lane road so the comment about a block wide turning radius is dead wrong. As far as looks go, that's all personal and I'm not going to add my two cents there cause it does not matter. A Can Am is a great machine with it's own peculiarities when turning. and for $13'000 more than my RT, you can own one too.

I don't mind the look of the reverse trike. Would love to try one someday.
