Hi,
I am moving Jacksonville from Clearwater which is a 200mile ride. A four hour ride. I have a linhai 300cc scooter water cooled. Is it safe to run the bike for that long? Or how long can I keep my bike cruising at 65mph without hurting the bike?
Thx

Longterm,,you should not have any problem at all. I have a JCL MP250a and run it on trips like that, no problems. If u are in doubt and would be more comfortable why not use state hwy's and just run a little slower and enjoy more scenery but the scoot will make if no problem if it's in good shape. What kind is it? Barnie

Its in good shape. How long you had your engine run at a time? And what was your average top speed? I think my bike can do it just never did four hours in my engine etc

I'm planning a 5000 mile trip in June and July with a Reflex 250. You can see that I trust mine.

As long as you are not overheating it or running wide open all the way then the engine should be fine. I would not have a problem with that and you can take the old road instead of the Interstate however it may take an extra hour or so to get there. To play it safe you may want to change the oil shortly before the run and carry a spare quart with you on the ride. You will likely be stopping once or twice either for gas, personal moment or some refreshments so it probabvly won't be a straight 4 to 5 hour ride. With a Linhai 300 you have one of the higher quality bikes that tops out at 80+ so a 55 to 65 mph half day ride is not unreasonable. I ride my 250 to St Augustine from Clearwater from time to time taking I4 and I95 and don't give it much thought now except to wear comfortable pants and undergarments that work out well with sitting for an extended period of time. The bigger problem may be your personal comfort or ability to sit on the saddle for the entire ride without a break.

You can take the highway without a problem. You should think about making it a road trip. Come up the middle of the state. I just rode from Jax to Plant City by way of Rt 19, cool ride.
Let me know when you get here !

Longterm,, like Rockynv said, just don't run it wide open the whole way there and keep an eye on ur temp guage. I don't really care for the interstates as u just don't get to see real America. My JCL 250 has the linhai 257 engine in it and I do 100% of the work on it (so I know its done) and in 5 years has never caused me 1 problem, she runs absolutely perfect. I've run it all day frequently. Just do a little pre-trip check air pres in tires/ck all fluids etc and ur good to go. have a good time and enjoy the trip.. Barnie

ARE YOU KIDDING? On a 300? The farthest I took My 125 Honda "back in the day" was a 360 mile run...In One Day!
(Just go over it to make sure everything is in good shape)

The first long ride will more often be a test of the rider. You will learn what not to put in your back pockets and may find out that the seams on your garments may be cutting in and causing you a problem. Some will find out what Monkey Butt means and why some buy air cusions and seat toppers for their bikes.

If you want to add kick to the cooling system add Water Wetter to the coolant.

It's old skool. Been using it on race tracs forever. An old retired Ford Motor Co engineer said they used it in their Nascar engines and it worked great.

Don't sweat it you are probably going to have to stop for gas anyway, check the oil level and get a nice cool soda or something and rest yourself a little and at the same time the scoot will also cool down. Alleyoop
