when replacing stock air box for a cone filter upgrade there are so many vac lines that no longer have anything to connect to. I take it I don't need them now... but what do I do with them and why is it ok to not use them anymore? this may be a very basic question but I don't know what to do with all the lines that came out of the old air box.

Most of the are not vac lines but lines that run something like exhaust gas or gas vapors, something else to re-circulate it through the airbox to burn it off again you scooter won't be emission compliant in like say Ca but you really dont need them as far as i know

Should you plug them or leave them open? GY6Racing sells a part that Is a small metal tube with a Hose bulge On one end and a threaded end on the other. They say to mount the piece/tube as high above the engine as possible. And install a filter on the threaded end if desired. But that only accounts for one of the hoses. I also asked alleyoop about weather a breather box is necessary. Sure would like to know the affects of those hoses Going nowhere.

I also read that blowback of oil into the cvt case is possible if you run WOT most of the time.

Go to your local muffler shop if they know a little of what they are doing they can bend you a intake tube as desired and help you with in stalling all those "vacuum lines" which is most likely smog equipment

It seems like I've seen so many people online who have replaced the airbox but no comment on the tubing. It makes sense that much of it would have to do with emissions now that Teddy554 mentions it. I have having big time problems solving a fuel issue due to my scooter sitting in the garage for over a year without driving as I was switching out the crappy valves. I would like to just go with a nice clean new bigger carb and toss this stocker. I have a air pipe and filter but it is meant for a larger carb it looks like. The muffler shop idea sounds like the best idea for those pipes actually. These frigin scooters are really starting to frustrate me. I mean it's one cylinder that I'm trying to keep lit not a freakin jet engine!

I think you are asking what to do with the hoses that go to the stock airbox when you replace it with a high performance air filter...
Like Alleyoop told me... Put a fuel filter on the end and tie them up high.

when removing the airbox remove EVERYTHING associated to it. all you need it A. Carb B. Fuel line going in C. vac line as follows in the form of a Y (T works as well) [CARB] V [INTAKE MANIFOLD] and the bottom part of the Y, the | to the fuel pump (if yours isnt gravity fed), all other lines can be scrapped, removed etc, if you have any extra nipples where lines were somewhere for some reason that you cant remove, block them off

i18.photobucket.com/albums/b143/OrigJoker/SAM_0094.jpgIf you look at the picture the clear tube on top leads down to a tee which goes to the intake and the fuel pump, That's the only vacuum lines you actually need. For the Crankcase vent just run a tube UPWARDS out of it and either get a PCV valve or a catch can for it. It's super simple once the emissions garbage is out of the way.

I'm in the same place at mattwg. I can't find a replacement filter for my Xinguye ITA150. I don't even have a filter at the moment because it got hosed in hurricane Sandy. All I have is this big empty box and a bunch of Vac lines. origjoker - It looks like your vac line goes from the intake by the auto choke to the flue pump you say? I have about 2-3 that go into the intake manifold, one to the valve cover, one form the auto-choke area (as you have pictured) and I'm sure another 1 or 2 I'm pretty sure...let me find a pic... i330.photobucket.com/albums/l402/BolsaDePiojo/IMG_2661.jpg (I need to turn my fuel filter.) I'll take any advice you all can give about how to get rid of this air box. Also, does anyone know what mm Cone Filter I would need to get to replace it? Thanks guys!

The Xingyue ITA uses the same air filter as the SH150 - Honda and K&N have them. Mine is being deleted because I am putting EFI on my ITA150, and a high flow air filter will replace it.
I will measure my parts tonight. I have a rubber connector sleeve and a piece of electrical PVC conduit with the filter mounted on the end.

the rubber connector has a hose clamp on each end and says right on it: 1 1/4" drain pipe to 1 1/4" drain pipe. The electrical PVC i have is a 45 degree 1 1/4" with the expanded end cut off. I could cut this down to only an inch or two, but have left it about 9 1/2". And the Uni filter, which I think I should change for a K&N type measures just over 42mm in the inside
The carb measures 42.7mm O.D. 37.7mm I.D. That PVC measures about 34mm I.D. The EFI thottle body measures just over 35mm.
When I bought the bits, I took my caliper, carb and air-filter and wandered around Menards for liike an hour looking for just the right bits.
I'd take a couple pics, but my phone is in the house charging.

bolsadepiojo - Yeah the stock vacuum lines are everywhere. You can remove the whole airbox and carbon canister assemblies and just route the vacuum lines like I have in my pic. It takes maybe 3 feet of line, one tee and a couple zip ties to do the whole job. The filter I use is a UNI like this one: www.ebay.com/itm/PERFORMANCE-UNI-AIR-FILTER-FOR-150cc-SCOOTERS-ATVS-AND-KARTS-WITH-GY6-MOTORS-/171018197316?pt=Other_Vehicle_Parts&hash=item27d17a9944&vxp=mtrI used a piece of radiator hose and an exhaust coupler with a couple hose clamps to finish the job. The only other line you will need is the crankcase vent which if I remember correctly was 3/8" and I just ran it up to a PCV valve zip tied to the chassis. The easiest way to do it is to fond someone you know that is familiar with dirtbikes and have them help you, It will take a couple hours to do the whole thing including a trip to the auto parts store.
