ok, 40 mph = 6400rpm and 52 mph = 7400 rpm when it's acting up. Haven't swapped belts to test that part of it yet.
Update - Swapped the belt, RPM is the same as the old belt at both speeds. Barely hit 50 also. New carb, diaphragm & spring on the way...Going to mess with it more when that stuff gets here.

woodman - 115 main (have intake and exhaust done on it) and haven't messed with the needle. Not sure how to check the float height and not confident enough to mess with any engine internals....If that's where the problem is she will get a for sale sign.
geh - hmm, I will swap it out then. I have a Gates for a spare, I just didn't swap when I pulled the cover because everything looked good in there. Gas tank is level with carb so the output is below it, I have a pump instead of just a petcock. Will check my rpm's later today and report back.
Thanks for the help!

geh --- The belt is just about 2k miles but looks in good shape, I checked it when I had the cover off the other day. I will have to check my RPM tomorrow.
I yanked the carb again today and was messing with it and noticed the diaphragm was sticking and would not slide freely so I sanded it with some 1000 grit and cleaned the hole on the carb that it slides in real good and it still acted up. On the way home though it was Jeckyll and Hyde, Would act good then bad at times. I ordered a replacement carb on Ebay since my buddy needs one anyway (his Taotao has the non-adjustable carb) so I am going to try it and see if there is a difference. May swap belts in the meantime just for the heck of it.

Alley - I use a GPS for my speedometer, The stock one is off almost 15mph so I got the GPS. It's not so much a lack of top end as it is just a lack of power overall...The scooter runs as if it's at 80% throttle instead of 100%, The motor sounds different and the power just isn't there. It ran fine up until 2 weeks ago and I didn't change anything at that time at all on the scooter. If it was just a top speed issue I think it would be easier to solve. Pretty much when it's running like normal and I give it WOT is has a certain amount of noise/power that goes with it, When it's doing whatever it does and I run WOT it sounds and feels like I am at 80- % throttle instead. I have also checked my throttle cable, tires, vacuum lines, air/fuel mixture etc.. trying to figure this stupid problem out.

No possible solutions eh??? damn...
I will update the thread if I finally figure something out, Today the scoot ran awesome until I stopped and put some gas in it then it went back to the low power issue the rest of the way to work.

Could be the little check valve that vents the fuel tank....A coworker of mine just bought a Taotao 150cc and got a bad valve, It wasn't venting hardly at all and would bog the scoot down until he shook the bike then it would run fine for a few minutes.

Oh, forgot to add that I bought a Mikuni pump for it today too.
And issue is still there....Just an annoying lack of top end power. Only managed 52 mph on flat ground on the way home in nice cool weather. I don't know what else to try really, There is nothing else in the system for me to mess with. Maybe it's a bad carb? I thought if I had carb trouble it would idle poorly though.
Idk, any thoughts or help would be appreciated...
Also what temps are acceptable for the 150's? I am around 220 after a 10 mile 50 mph trip in 65-70 degree weather. which I think points to it running lean, Pretty sure last year I barely hit 200

Well, I give up. Yanked thegas tank today, Cleaned it out and blew backwards through the gas line to make sure it was clear. Also yanked apart the variator and clutch assemblies and cleaned/lubed everything and scuffed the clutch pads, bell and V's for the belt. % sure the issue is still there...Will know 100% on the way home tonight but it still felt the same when I tested it earlier. I don't know what else to check, Motor has good compression and obviously has spark/fuel. Frustrating.

You still won't gain any top speed, just acceleration. You have hit your max for your current gearing, even with a "performance" variator your overall gear ratio and max RPM stays the same.
Get a new gear set if you want speed or just get a 150cc scoot.

geh - What do you do with the line that goes to the top of the carb? Is that one unnecessary also?
I can't remove the fuel pump completely, Mine is a touring model and my gas tank is below my carb so that won't work for me. If I don't see anything wrong with the clutch or variator I am getting a Mikuni pump though and yanking hte gas tank to clean it out.

110 jet will be good for stock....112-114 after intake upgrade and 115-117 after intake and exhaust upgrade.
The 842 belt will just gets you 1-2 more mph than the 835, unless your on 50 mph+ speed limit roads a lot the 835 will do great.

Ok, quick update...Yanked fuel pump and took it apart, Everything looked fine so I reassembled and checked my vacuum lines going to it and to the carb and they are both great also. Next is clutch/belt and fuel tank I guess....grrrrrr

prodigit - I don't think wind/weather are the problem, It's been pretty cool and dry here lately and only a couple days where it was pretty windy. Last night was low wind and nice and cold out and I still struggled to hit 52.
indy - I checked today, Tank is a bit higher that the carb inlet. I am going to yank the line and run it direct on the way to work tomorrow and see what happens. Pulled the carb today and gave it a good bath, It was pretty clean and took it for a test drive after with same speed issues.
Thanks for the replies! Will update tomorrow after work (hopefully with good news ;D)

Yeah, I don't want to buy the Mikuni unless I know it will fix the problem for sure. I may snag a $4 shut off valve and try that, I'm not sure if it will feed properly if it's bypassed though. The bottom of the tank is a bit below the carb level so it may not gravity feed correctly. I drove it about 30 miles today and both ways 52 mph max, It just has less power through the whole range when it's acting up. It has to either be fuel related or my clutch/belt slipping though...I plan to take apart the clutch assembly this week and scuff it up real good with some sandpaper anyway.
Still has me puzzled though...
