A 562 Pound Pile of a Sorry Excuse for a Two Wheeled Vehicle Wussy ride. As uninspiring as riding my couch. And A Corporate Idiot actually is going to try to Market these in the US? they would be on the sidewalk with a cardboard sign if they were that clueless to the Merkin Market and worked for me. Who would be seen on that pile in the US? And there again some actually purchase a CUBE for a four well vehicle. I suppose they would be there market a Cube for a Four Wheel vehicle and a 562 Pound Couch for a Two Wheeled Vehicle. That to me is a automatic motorcycle rather than a scooter, and for what, roughly 12 grand when they get done with you? There is a guy that works at a local grocery store here in Palm Springs that just bought a beautiful Yamaha Bolt V-twin at almost 1000cc for a little over half the price. Exactly! I didn't even pay $12,000 for my 2012 CBR1000RR

I'll tell you exactly when "we will embrace the scooter" here in America anyways (it's already happened in Europe and especially in Asia ),,,when regular gas goes to $5-6 for regular and stays there,,that's when we will realize what a nice little mode of transport the scooter really is,,,I take my dr350 for parts runs and lite duty single purchase stuff but if I have to go shopping,,I come home with a case of beer a case of water and couple three bags of groceries all on the Stella cause of the flat floor,,,a true pack mule,,,

there are 2 basic problems with scooters, and all 2 wheelers in general. 1. lack of carrying capacity. soccer moms that have a sububurban full of kids and equipment isn't going to be taking the scooter to the next volleyball tournament.
2. exposure. i'll brave temps in a car that i wouldn't even consider on a scooter.
in my opinion, neither of the above will be solved and still retain the thrill factor of 2 wheels.

YOU are SO right! Have a bone on The Old Chopper Guy I spent a tour in the Army, in Germany back in the sixties. Gas was already over $2 per gallon THEN. That is about $15 dollars in today's money. As a marvelous side-note/factoid, the exchange rate then was 4 Deutsche Marks to a US Dollar. Yup... FOUR TO ONE!!! And, a MARK would buy a DOLLAR'S worth of goodies!!! My Sergeant's pay went a LONG way there... I used to drive my German pals' cars and bikes through the GI on-post gas station and fill 'em up for 30-cents a gallon... Yeah, GALLON, not LITER... Words cannot describe (in English OR German) their appreciation for a FREE full tank of petrol! Nice folks, small expense on my part, and... Probably did more for foreign relations than our "diplomats"... LOL! Germans riding "real" scooters were in the "upper-class"... LOL! The everyday working Hans and Ushi rode those truly AWFUL little pressed-steel Solex front-wheel-drive mopeds... Yes, REAL "mopeds" with actual pedals... What DISMAL little scoots those were, but they got Helmut and Brunhilde down the road. Mega-cheap. Now, if you were a tad higher on the Deutsche food-chain, you might ride a Vespa, or Zundapp or (be still my beating heart) a hand-me-down CUSHMAN pried away from an American soldier returning home to "the land or round doorknobs"... Hmmm... Once in a while, I actually miss those European "lever" doorknobs. Now as for me? Well, now surviving on Social Security, $2 gas is enough to encourage me to use "Minnie Mouse" (my old Kymco Grandvista 250) for MY parts runs, lite single purchase stuff and the other goodies on her flat floor. Yup! The ONLY thing I miss about my old Chinese 150 was its LARGE flat-floor... The Kymco has less foot-room for bags of kitty-litter, cases of refreshment, etc. With her Givi windshield, I can ride her down to 45 degrees in comfort, and with her watercooled motor, she can ride comfortably up to 115 degrees... Hot ride for me though... LOL! Cheap gas has Americans pretty spoiled. However, modern fuel-injected cars DO give incredible mileage not even dreamed of when I was young. That, combined with sub-three-dollar gas will keep scooters somewhat in the background, but they ARE catching on just a little more each season. I think this phenomenon is simply because scooters are nowadays fast enough, reliable and affordable, making them attractive as fun second-vehicles to drivers who still use a car or truck for their daily ride. After all, THIS is AMERICA... Not EUROPE, or ASIA, or INDIA... Aint'cha GLAD? Leo (really happy for cheap gas, flat-floors and wind on my knuckles) in Texas

Here's my point also. Why can I find great ads for scooters on Youtube but never see them on some tiny cable channel. I think an ad like this would pique some interest.
