I started a post about EFI a week or so ago. I haven't purchased one yet, but I'm in the same boat as you I just want more long term reliability. In the research I have done I would go with the Ecotrons kit for one reason, it appears that they have much better support. It looks like the MBE kit injects in the manifold where the Ecotrons kit injects in the throttle body. If you google it there are several videos on you tubes of it being installed.

Ok, glad I'm not the only one then. I did test something out, I bookmarked my own posts and I got email notifications from them. But some of you said you were not getting those. From now on I will bookmark every thread I am in and see what happens.
Strange at any rate.........

No matter what I do I'm not getting any notifications when one of my threads has been responded to. I have ALL the notification options turned on in my profile.
I have checked my junk mail and nothing is there, however I do get notifications for private messages. Any idea what I'm doing wrong, or is that just the way this board works?
Thanks.

Is there a port or screw hole or anything that old be used to measure oil pressure?

An e-throttle in a Chinese scoot sounds scary........
I didn't even know they did that in 250's....

Are these motors splash lube or do they have a pressure lube system? I try to check the oil level as often as I can, I was just wondering if there was a way to put some kind of positive oil indication on. Pressure or level.

She is actually on the rich side, 120 main jet. I have no idea what the pilot jet is as it isn't marked, and the pilot jet is probably part of my problem.
EFI would solve everything pretty much for good though. Again, I would look at it as in investment as I would keep it on any bike I had, so I suppose that helps the price not feel so bad.

Manhattan to be specific.
Thanks for the offer, I will keep that in mind depending in what I do moving forward, but I really do somewhat have my mind made up on EFI.

Millsc, to a certain extent I agree with you, however there are situations where that doesn't work, time and reliability are more important. I live in the country and my wife and I commute together to save on gas. I work at two different offices and travel around town a fair amount during the day. So my scoot lives at one office and I go about things from there. I don't have the time to constantly adjust the carb or the will to fight it in traffic when the temperature is drastically different than it was yesterday.
I also understand at the end if the day it is still a china scoot, but as long as I change the oil, adjust the valves and do other upkeep it has really treated me fine and has been reliable. That's why I really wanted to just keep this focused in EFI options and not a carb versus issue.

Thanks, for your response. I have read that in several places that ecotrons support is very good, and that is worth a lot.
When I was comparing pictures of the kits it looks like the ecotrons injects in the throttle body, has a pump that goes in the tank, and comes with an O2 sensor. It looks like the MBE injects in the intake runner, has an external pump and does not come with an O2 sensor.
Someday I hope to move up to a 250, and I would think I could take the system off and more or less transplant it to a new ride. Worst case maybe buy a bigger injector.
Am actually in the process of changing to an 11 pole stator as it is, my factory one went out. I'm waiting in the flywheel puller.

I use my scoot as my daily driver in every bit of weather except for snow/ice on the road. I'm getting tired of the constant "out of adjustment" carb. In Kansas, it could be 15°F one day and 70°F the next day, and the carbs just don't like that. Plus, I finally get one dialed in pretty good and then 500 miles later it goes bonkers........ Anyway, I don't really want this to be an EFI versus carb thread, I was wondering if anyone has opinions on the different sources of fuel injection bolt on's out there that would be applicable to a GY6. I know there is a write up for an ecotrons setup on this board, and it looked like that worked very well. However that system is $400, which is almost as much as I paid for the scoot in the first place. So, here is the one's I know about and the costs associated. Let me know if you have any experience with these good or bad, or if you have any suggestions for ones I might have missed. $299 MBE Motorsports$399 ecotronsother custom solution, maybe mega-squirt ect.......

Ok, so I got the carb together with a 115 main jet. I put the high performance (orange) coil and wire on and the upgraded CDI. I got fuel in the bowl and started it up. It ran pretty good for not being tuned. It actually started up better than it has in a while. One strange thing however was when it started, my headlight and dash lights didn't come on. Everything else worked, turn signals, horn and emergency flashers. Probably just a coincidence and I haven't checked any fuses yet, but just strange. Also, have any of you put on the K&N style filters? I purchased one and it fits the inlet of the carb good but it won't fit inside of the frame. I'm thinking about using the part of the stock air hose to just get past the frame section and then connect to the filter. It will work, but just wanted to see if anyone had a more elegant solution.

Also, I'm only 1000 ft above sea level.
