Lok at my setup in the signature. The only difference is the jet, airbox, exhaust, and gearing.(you definitely need those for top end,) I'm very happy with my setup,Good acceleration.enough top end for me. And the best part is it will actually accelerate up hills I get right out into traffic and 45 MPH in no time.It will go faster, but I usually don't do that much (cops tickets etc. you know the drill) AND GET SOME GOOD TIRES!-you will need them

You did everything right. You wont be dissapointed. You shouldn't need to kickstart it though. and a broken head stud!! that would cause leaking and LOW compression.Did you torque all 4 to 15 lb/ft?(were you saying that was the last scooter not this one)?

Airsal kits are designed for stock heads. I have the same setup, stock head-A9 cam, and it's fantastic. I think you must have a battery,or starter problem. One thing though, You can"t open the throttle while starting it. Get the carb right, and it will start without twisting the throttle. If you used the gaskets provided with the kit, It should not have too much compression.Mine has 190PSI.BTW, when you use a double gasket setup, It's the base gasket, not the head gasket ;D

[replyingto=awhitlock]endru[/replyingto]I got the same compression tester from harbor freight and had the same problem with the adapter turning in the hose. I put a drop of superglue on it, and problem solved.I can now get it tight enough for a proper seal.(easily undone with a couple of vise-grips) I don't think the engine would even run on 40 psi. has to be the tester.

me too 1000 miles is excessive. In the airsal kit I put in the instructions state that after 35 minutes, it's all set to go WOT. I did,and It runs perfect with around 300 miles since breakin now.you want to break it in the way you run it.I would say 1/2-3/4 throttle for maybe 100 miles,go to top-end for a few, change oil, Ride it normally changing the oil a couple of times within 300 miles or so, and it will be fine.

How is it that a mechanic who has fixed HUNDREDS of scooters does not have a flywheel puller ? It is a basic inexpensive tool that anyone who even does their own work should have.
Anyway'to isolate the short. you need a multimeter. check all stator connections to ground, to each other. you should get no reading. thendisconnect the wire to the headlights, and check voltag. do the same with the others.Like John says, disconnect the stator, and check voltages while cranking the engine.Tell us the results. The red wire should have 40-80VAC. the yellow 12-14, and the white 15-20 all ac

Yes chain is tight. I installed it, rotated several times til it reached the tdc mark, then i installed the cam and tensioner. I am concernedit could be a bad oil pump, or possibly bad bearing on camshaft. bad bearing is very possible. Oil pump is easy to check.Remove the valve cover, pack rags around the front and bottom,(leave the rockers a little exposed, )and start the engine for about 2-3 seconds. You should see oil squirting out. If you're careful, you wont make a mess.

sliders are the better peformers, but I do'nt know if they work in the standard variator ramps.I bought the whole variator and it made a huge difference.
