Lol. We should do a video of our scoots . see what the time from 0 to 40 . that would be fun . the app I use would be perfect. It records the video with time and mph at the top .

That's the exact drive face I have . I also have the 3rd gen clutch assembly. It does make a big difference.

I'll post a pic of mine in the morn . I had a few others I've sold over the years but I'll never sell the this one. I started playing at 16 , and I'm 36 now. My problem is that I have had gaps over the years in which I never picked it up, so I never really progressed to the point where I should be. When it comes to rythme , I can pretty much play anything . i can play slower solos pretty easy , but when it comes to the faster solos , I have a hard time . I've also never learned how to read music. I learned on my own by listening to a song and finding which frets to use. Or by watching a live show , and seeing how the song was played.

How long have you played ? I also play , mostly electric. I play a 97 fenandez strat with a Seymour Duncan distortion at neck , a hotrail in the mid and an invader at bridge. Its an LE1 , they stopped making them in 97 . its made in Japan unlike some of the newer ones that are reproductions.

Alright. I'll look at some of the manual shutoff valves then. I just did an oil change and air filter cleaning because I'm pushing 4,000 miles now. I really don't want to do work of any kind to it until the 5,000 mark, especially since my whole headlight fiasco. I've had this vacuum operated valve for about two years now, so I can live with it until then. You say " an air filter cleaning " . what type of air filter and how did you clean it ? If it is a regular stock type air filter , then there is no cleaning , only buying a new one . those things lock in dirt and dust and if you used water to clean it then its probably toast.

Can't seem to find what I'm looking for. What the basic maintenence needed for the cvt, like anything that needs to be lubed? Couldn't find much on Google. When it comes to lubricating, the only thing you should grease are the clutch bearings that slide over the shaft and if you pull the sliding sheave off you can regrease where it slides on the clutch and the pins. I hear of some lubricating the variator roller ramps , but I would never do that. The rollers lubricate themselves. You can clean the variator , but do not clean the inside of the variator " where the boss slides" with anything but a dry rag. You can use soap or a degreaser on the drive and variator faces. You can also deglaze the belt if needed. You can lightly scuff the clutch pads and bell with sand paper and also clean the clutch pulley with a degreaser of soap. To tell if the belt is glazed , look at it in some light and see if the edge looks as if it has a sheen to it. If it does, you can take a piece of sand paper , maybe 800 grit and lightly remove the sheen . 400 maybe fine also , just don't go crazy on it. I'd lightly wash the belt with some dawn before and after .

Yep , its almost impossible to be able to feel if it is leaking there, since the fan is blowing the warm air out around the header opening also.

A/F adjustment or jetting will also decrease power. If your running stock set up that might be the problem. John I would usually expect to have some sort of bogging or hesitation if it were an air fuel issue. But its still good to check. I'm still stuck on it being a CVT issue . its also a good idea to check the valves. Just let us know when you are ready and we will walk you through it.

I know I've said this before , but it would be great to take these scoots on a cross country run " very risky , lol " furthest I've ever road was about 1.5 hr's one way, and that was with a bad oil pump !! I'm lucky I didn't cause any damage. It figures the first time I take it on a longer run I have an issue with it. Of course I did notice the higher oil temps before hand so It would have been my fault if something happened to it.

I have no idea. It would be great to get together. You could tell me if this engine is built with Taiwan parts, or what, and perhaps what the transmission is made of. It did come with a Bando belt, so I was happy to see that. But the rest of the internals... I have no idea. Now looking into the cost to fly a GY6, and family to Ca. We could start a go fund me page...lol Lol. Correct me if I'm wrong , but do you have one of the scrappy gy6 200 motors ? My memory isn't what it use to be , and I'm not even all that old , lol. I'm afraid to think of what it will be like in another 30+ years , lol.

@lian. I'll will investigate that. Was wondering about limiters geh3333. These where round roller weights and they all looked the same. But I know what your talking about happened twice on my old scoot. Ha-ha "stuff" happens Sorry bud , you mentions sliders instead of rollers. Sliders def can cause some extra unwanted issues.

Thank you all for your replys. I hadn't even thought to check the transmission good call. Pulled it open and saw what looks to be a brand new belt. Spun it by hand a few times and heard clinking. So pulled open the front variator to find the sliders not sitting right. It appeared the last owner thought they should be standing up instead of rolling on their sides. Any ways she's going now if not as fast as I'd like. Seems to be leveling out at 25 mph. That normal? My old minarelli 2t got up to 30 no prob 35 a few seconds later and on flat long stretch got her up to 40. No mods.got this scoot to be a commuter but cant do that if it only tops at 25. Spent 2 hours adjusting the air flow mix never saw much of a difference till it was nearly screwed all the way in and not a big one at that Were all the sliders the same way , or were some flip and others OK ? That's the issue I have with sliders . they can flip out of place on you . I've had it happen many times when I was trying them out. I'mnot sure if it was my junk koso variator or not . let's say for instance you have an issue with the CVT as your slowing down . let's say the clutch pulley sticks open. This means the variator will begin to open back up creating a lot of slack in the belt , which will then cause the variator to become very loose , allowing the back plate to seperate very easy causing an opportunity for the sliders to easily flip . with rollers you do not have this issue.

It sounds as if you have everything in order . your getting fuel , spark , and air. You need that air filter back on there. Its not good at all to run that thing with no air filter. Also , with no air filter, the scoot is probably running extremely lean ! These scoots run lean from factory and when you take the air filter out , your letting in so much more air. This could also be part of the problem.
