I just received an email this morning; My scooter is finally on its way! Shipped, with tracking number, by RDFS, Roadrunner Transportation Services. Anyone have any experience with them? Are they any good?
Shipped exactly two months from the day I placed my order.

Yeah, here in NE Texas, the Interstate speed limit is 75mph and some other locations are 80mph. If I drive the speed limit, there are still a lot of people passing me at very high speeds. I ordered a 250cc and still have absolutely no intention of EVER driving it on an interstate.

I checked the Kymco forum, but they don't respond very often, not like here... +1... I joined over on the Kymco forum initially as I was initially looking at the 150cc Super8. I needed something with a little higher top-end and couldn't afford the 200-300 Kymcos, so I started looking and found this site and discovered I could get a 250cc China scoot for $1k less than the 150 Kymco. IIRC, I tried to join the Kymco forum and I never received the verification email to let me in. I thought the downtown 300i looked like a nice choice since it has a full windscreen, but reviews I've read say that it's not a good fit for 6' riders...

Update directly from Roketa: Yesterday, I wrote out a quick email to Roketa directly, inquiring regarding the import status of the 2013 MC-54b: " In mid-May, I ordered a Roketa MC-54b scooter from a dealer here in the US. It has been delayed repeatedly, and per a recent conversation, they are currently waiting on customs regarding the import of the new 2013 model year. Can you confirm that the 2013 MC54b has been EPA approved and is cleared for import into the US? If it will be several months, I will change my order to an alternate Roketa model that is currently in stock." I received this response this morning: " The 2013 MC-54-250cc has been EPA approved, and should arriving our warehouse less than 2 weeks. Tks!
Goldenvale/Roketa" This sounds promising to me. I've located several other online dealers who are also verifying the arrival of the 2013 MC-54b to be in mid-July. Maybe my scooter will get shipped this month after all! I'm not sure what model year was being shipped until this point (Can anyone verify?) but I'll be glad to have a newer-assembly which has spent less time decaying in a crate on a shelf. I'm hoping the new model will have better quality hoses than some of the old 2008 apparently had. Here's hoping: - New model will have fuel injection
- New model will have improved top case (no rattles)
- New model will have factory upgrade to Pirelli tires
- ...and what else would be nice?
;D

Sounds better than the typical 'teeth falling out' dream...
Last night, I dreamed I was watching from within a video taken from a first-person-perpective of a spec-ops HALO insertion and takedown of a terrorist-controlled facility with hostages. The entire process had the elements of a video (contrast issues and lens flares) but was all seen directly from a first-person perspective. It began at the initial jump point at very high altitude, through the entire dive. Watching the ground come up quickly and previously-indiscernable details come into view. Incredibly close to the ground before chutes were opened. Opening above a small canal and then landing on the bank, moving up a hill where there was a view into the facility; a large silo and several very old connex-type buildings. Using a surpressed weapon to take out several patroling guards, then moving into the facility and clearing the main building to eliminate the terrorist threat.

Okay: I just got off of a 2 1/2 hour long chat session with Aaron at Superior. Most of that time was waiting while he was escalating my concern to his manager.
My inquiry was regarding the reason for the delay they are experiencing with receiving their shipment. Their response was to offer me a $20 discount for my inconvenience until I pointed out that they were offering a $50 off discount as an Indepence Day sale special. He was able to apply this $50 discount to my order so that worked out well...
He also provided some infomation that is interesting if true. He indicated that the delays were due to this being an import of a new model. I know many of the 54b style scooters were old-stock. This unit was listed as In-Stock when I ordered so I am speculating that the old-stock may have been depleted. He specifically stated that this is an all-new 2013 model.
"...since this is a new product we're waiting on shipment from the manufacturer and like all new products there is a lot of steps you have to go through to get it here. Shipping and customs is what we're waiting on."
"...the price of this unit is going up soon so a benefit of having an older order is you get to keep that price."
"It is a new 2013 model."
"...it may even have some newer features!"
Anyone have any insight into this and can confirm that 2013-models are being imported now?

Just do what i did. Cancel the order for 54B and get the MC-79-250 from them. Loving mine. I had the same issue with my order of the 54B back in April. They told me it would be available many times. Still not available to this date. Hope you get what you want though. Good luck. Hey Type79! I would like some more info about your experience with Superior. In my case, it's been seven weeks. Once I ordered and the order was moved to shipping, the status of the bike was changed to "Pre-order" and the order date keeps getting pushed back. It makes me wonder when they last had a 54b in stock, or if it even is still a stock item. This is beginning to look like a bait-and-switch where they are offering the scoot at an attractive price and then expecting me to upgrade to a more expensive model when they can't provide what I ordered. Was Superior able to offer you any incentive for the downgrade to the Type 79? One big concern is the review I read over on the old Scootdawg site that says the 79 has the radiator in a poor location resulting in worse cooling than the 54-style. I live in NE Texas where temps over 100 degrees are common this time of year and I would prefer the model with the best cooling. What's your impression of the Type 79 radiator replacement?

Still not available to this date. Hope you get what you want though. Good luck. Yeah, I've thought about that, but if I cancel the 54b I'll probablu try to find another vendor. I was originally going to order the 79 since it was the cheapest but went with the 54 because it was a more established design with more users. Also, i really started to prefer the stylings of the 54 body better, especially the front fairing. I have been too busy to deal with it at the moment though but things should be slowing down soon. If they don't ship and keep pushing the date back, I'll have no choice but to cancel my order. Losing summer is no loss here in Texas... it was 104 degrees last Saturday, not fun riding weather. That will come around October.

Yesterday evening, after a month and a half, I finally received my first unrequested status update from Superior:
"This e-mail is in regards to your Roketa 250cc Scooter Type 54B<BR/ that you pre-ordered with us. Unfortunately, it still has not arrived. We should have it in, in a couple of weeks. I just wanted to let you know that we are guaranteeing you one. Thank-you for your patience and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused..."
I've emailed back thanking Pamela for her update and have asked for an explanation of the ongoing delays. They keep pushing the date back; so it appears that they don't know when they will be receiving the next shipment. So still waiting...
