I've posted bits of this around the forum, but I'm putting my story together here... After extensive research, I finally took action and on May 15, ordered a new Roketa MC-54b which was in stock at Superior Powersports. Superior was the cheapest dealer I could find (No dealers local to my area) and reviews indicated that they were typically pretty quick on shipping. Unfortunately, they messed up my payment and my order went to a 'payment declined' state. By the time I had gotten concerned with the delays without communications, discovering the issue, and working with Superior to get it resolved, the scooter had gone to a "Pre-order" stock status with an expected date of 6-30. Since placing my order, I have scheduled and completed the MSF BRC, went to the DPS to get my cycle license, received my new permanent license in the mail, and received a quote from my insurance company for the new scooter. A lot of assumptions here, but IF they receive their shipment promptly on 6/30, I would expect a few days as they prepare my scoot (rudimentary PDI), a few days preparing for shipment, and a few more days in transit to my location in NE Texas. Even if everything goes well, I would expect it to be the middle of July before I receive my new scooter. That's two months from time of order to delivery, with the best-case scenario! Once I receive the bike, it will still take time for me to get the paperwork, register the bike, and get the insurance taken care of. It will be August and 114 degrees before I'm even able to ride! I guess there is an advantage; as they are receiving what I assume will be a cargo container full of these bikes, then I think my chances of getting my preferred first choice of color (BLUE!) will be greater. I wouldn't mind the silver, or even the red, but I really don't want the black.

That's a horrible predicament. D8 At least it shouldn't take too long getting it titled, insured, and registered and ready to ride. The day after I got my scooter I was able to do all these things and within a few hours I had my insurance card, my temporary license plates, my temporary title, etc. It took about two weeks for the permanent stuff to get to me, but I was still able to ride until then. This all depends on getting that paperwork though. In any case... Congratulations on buying a scooter, getting your motorcycle license, and doing research. Hope your scooter gets to you relatively soon!

Another positive, I've read and re-read the PDI walkthrough so many times, I should be able to get it done in a single evening when I get the new bike in...

Yesterday evening, after a month and a half, I finally received my first unrequested status update from Superior:
"This e-mail is in regards to your Roketa 250cc Scooter Type 54B<BR/ that you pre-ordered with us. Unfortunately, it still has not arrived. We should have it in, in a couple of weeks. I just wanted to let you know that we are guaranteeing you one. Thank-you for your patience and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused..."
I've emailed back thanking Pamela for her update and have asked for an explanation of the ongoing delays. They keep pushing the date back; so it appears that they don't know when they will be receiving the next shipment. So still waiting...

Cancel that order and buy a used one off of Craigslist. They are eating up your summer...

Just do what i did. Cancel the order for 54B and get the MC-79-250 from them. Loving mine. I had the same issue with my order of the 54B back in April. They told me it would be available many times. Still not available to this date. Hope you get what you want though. Good luck.

I was originally going to order the 79 since it was the cheapest but went with the 54 because it was a more established design with more users. Also, i really started to prefer the stylings of the 54 body better, especially the front fairing. I have been too busy to deal with it at the moment though but things should be slowing down soon. If they don't ship and keep pushing the date back, I'll have no choice but to cancel my order. Losing summer is no loss here in Texas... it was 104 degrees last Saturday, not fun riding weather. That will come around October.

Once I ordered and the order was moved to shipping, the status of the bike was changed to "Pre-order" and the order date keeps getting pushed back. It makes me wonder when they last had a 54b in stock, or if it even is still a stock item. This is beginning to look like a bait-and-switch where they are offering the scoot at an attractive price and then expecting me to upgrade to a more expensive model when they can't provide what I ordered. Was Superior able to offer you any incentive for the downgrade to the Type 79? One big concern is the review I read over on the old Scootdawg site that says the 79 has the radiator in a poor location resulting in worse cooling than the 54-style. I live in NE Texas where temps over 100 degrees are common this time of year and I would prefer the model with the best cooling. What's your impression of the Type 79 radiator replacement?

Okay: I just got off of a 2 1/2 hour long chat session with Aaron at Superior. Most of that time was waiting while he was escalating my concern to his manager.
My inquiry was regarding the reason for the delay they are experiencing with receiving their shipment. Their response was to offer me a $20 discount for my inconvenience until I pointed out that they were offering a $50 off discount as an Indepence Day sale special. He was able to apply this $50 discount to my order so that worked out well...
He also provided some infomation that is interesting if true. He indicated that the delays were due to this being an import of a new model. I know many of the 54b style scooters were old-stock. This unit was listed as In-Stock when I ordered so I am speculating that the old-stock may have been depleted. He specifically stated that this is an all-new 2013 model.
"...since this is a new product we're waiting on shipment from the manufacturer and like all new products there is a lot of steps you have to go through to get it here. Shipping and customs is what we're waiting on."
"...the price of this unit is going up soon so a benefit of having an older order is you get to keep that price."
"It is a new 2013 model."
"...it may even have some newer features!"
Anyone have any insight into this and can confirm that 2013-models are being imported now?
