'72 Pinto, four Lucas Square-8 lights, CB with twin whips (you can just see the flags 10+ feet in the air.) Uncle on his RV125, my DT175 left. I really liked the sun visor. My '77 GMC K2500: Me on my Savage picking up the lawn edger from the shop. The New Beetles behind are the wife's hamster cages.

... The Suzuki S40 : 1 piston 650cc .... I think ridecheap was looking more for a reason to ride a scoot vs a bike. A comparison of the two with pro scoot and con bike. Ya can't make that comparison without having owned/ridden both for a substancial time Rode my Thumper for over seven years / 30,000 miles -- including a tour from L.A. to OKC: Want cheap? I bought my 2000 Savage in 2004, for $2,325. Would have been still running except I had medical problems that had me not doing my maintenance. Gasoline mileage? I got 50 mpg in the city, but I had fun -- no one could beat me when the traffic signal went green. On tour, above, I was getting 60-65 mpg doing limit speed on the Interstate. Coming back on the lesser roads I got over 70 mpg on CA62 across the Mojave, doing 50-55 mph. I have only had my Scooter for just 6 months. Still quick enough at the traffic signals to keep ahead of the cars. But barely fast enough for the freeways. I don't know how much faster than mph my Savage it could do, I know that my 150 can average 61.5 mph on the freeway mostly doing WOT. When it warmer I will be doing a third Full Moon Madness and see how the scooter does on a 370 mile jaunt. Some scooters are bigger than some motorcycles. Motorcycles can be less expensive with better fuel mileage. Manual transmissions go over 100,000 miles as long as you do not abuse one. CVT belts need to be replaced what? every 10,000 miles? Whatever. Ride Your Own Ride. What I HAVE difference between scooters and motorcycles is what non-riders think about the scooters and motorcycles. People and ask about the Savage about once a year. I cannot ride a week without someone asking about the scooter. Non-riders view scooters and scooterists as safe -- safer to ride, safer to talk to the rider.

... So nice to be able to go shopping and carry it all home. With my motorcycle, I could only carry what I put in a backpack so I would usually end up driving the car if I had to shop. My motorcycle had lockable saddlebags, and if not enough I bolted a crate on the pillion. That was a 5-gallon water bottle crate, but soon switched to a milk crate, a little bigger, not as tall. The milk crate worked, but a 8 gallon Rubbermaid ActionPacker is lockable.

Been a motorcycle rider for many years and just got myself a Kymco Super8 150. Love the scooter and may never go back to a regular motorcycle. Looking forward to being a part of this forum. My first motorcycle was a brand new 1964 Honda CA110. My lastest is my LX150, which I bought about six monhs ago. Riding at a dealer, saw a SYM Wolf, step up to it and stopped... I didn't want to swing over the saddle, I like to just step through.

California Highway Patrol guidelines: www.chp.ca.gov/programs/lanesplitguide.html1) Travel at a speed that is no more than 10 MPH faster than other traffic 2) It is not advisable to lane split when traffic flow is at 30 mph or faster 3) Typically, it is safer to split between the #1 and #2 lanes than between other lanes. Note: the sport bikers in the above youtube video were not following the guidelines. Personally, I will not split if the cars are moving. I do not split if I will not gain. I watch my traffic signals ahead. Generally, in L.A., I can see three or four signals ahead. If at a red, and the next signal will also arrive at a red, why push it?

... Anecdotal stories from dark siders are OK too.... In my opinion, as far as I know, etc.: Friends on the Savage Forum, stand on their dark side tires. You can see YouTube with darksiders on their motorcycles having no problem. AFAIK, tires are *far* better and sticker than the past. Both my Savage and me Vespa has no problem grinding the pegs or equivalent. The only times I got a little squirmy was on steel and painted lines in the wet. I don't crash. I don't want to crash. I want tires that are far sticky than I need. But they are. In the dry, in curves on the edge of car tires, you are just fine. If you are a high mileage commuter/tourer that are mostly upright, dark side tires far cheaper per mile. You have 120/70R15 and 160/60R15 tires. You can try Michelin X - 125R15 tires front and common 165-15 tires in the rear.

WHOIS: www.networksolutions.com/whois/results.jsp?domain=ScooterDomain.comScooterDomain.com has been in business for 10 years. (this is good.) The Registrant is W.V.C. HOLDINGS CORP., 16300 SW 137th AVE., Bay 101, Miami, FL 33177. GoogleMaps shows that address to be farmland -- no street where it should be, no building at that address. (No good.) www.scooterdomain.com/ -- same bogus address, local telephone references to the same bogus address. There is no way to talk to someone if they want to ignore you. On the other hand, I do not see a lot of complaints on the Internet. Take your money, take your chances. I don't deal with people that are hiding, that I cannot visit them. Others are comfortable with not knowing who they are dealing with.

I use Paint Shop Pro, version 6.02, that I have been using since early 2000. I have tried newer programs but keep going back to the program I know how to use.
