I assume a 50, since that speedometer show 80 km/h is in red.

Scotsmen eat oatmeal. For fun they throw telephone poles.

... I figure more tread on ground... = Safer the scooter.... I figure the stickier rubber, which is why I get highest quality tires -- Heidenau. (And I really need to swap tires, after 8,600 miles the rear ties is getting thin.)

... I can take the highway in my car, while I take the side streets on my scooter. So maybe 15-20 minutes car, 30+ scooter .... Then you have the weather. On a beautiful sunny summer commute the scooter can take hours longer to get home:

... I would probably lower the hand grips a little for longer rides In a different forum WD (Wanton Destruction) liked apes. So I tried a set of 10" apes on my Savage and I liked it -- tho' I chopped 1 1/4" off the ends.

... I think they're basically toys. Not transportation, not really... Agree, it is a toy. As transportation it is too big carry with you, no way of securing it outside. Unless I carry it with the scoot, to use walking/pushing a shopping cart at the grocery store....

... while I was enjoying the ride, I thought to myself: "Just WHAT is it I like (and dislike) about the SCOOTER I ride... Not the other guy's ride, not what might I rather have.... First, I ride because I HATE being in a cage. While I enjoy riding, I ride mainly as transportation. At 65 I wanted less weight, and that step through thing is really nice. Rented a Vespa, found that it could get on the freeways, so I bought one. What I like: Quality. Rented a SYM in Hawaii -- I had to be gentle and aim the seat just right to close storage. With my Vespa it is slam it's locked. With the steel monocoque body the Vespa is stiff with no loose noise (unlike the stuff I carry.) My mirrors do not vibrate (unlike the one on the rented Vespa with a non-Piaggio replacement.) Mileage: I tend to be "frisky" on a motorcycle. I have tracked every drop I have put in the Vespa -- 67.5 mpg average over 16,000+ miles. And that is with "fuel" instead of real gasoline -- would expect closer to 73 mpg with 49-State gasoline. On my Full Moon ride went 50 miles on I-10, 62 miles through Joshua Tree Nat. Park, 30 miles on CA-62 -- on 1.634 gallons. Assuming 70 mpg on the freeway, the steady slower speeds gave me just about 100 mpg. Storage: I measure storage by 10lb potato bag. My Savage had a pair of saddlebags, 10lb per side. Also a milk crate that I could bolt on the pillion/sissybar, but is no lock. The Vespa has storage under the seat that can carry the 10lbs. Rear rack carries a lockable 8-gallon Rubbermaid box that can carry over 20 lbs. The box doesn't quite hold a 24-bottle case of beer -- but the front rack does! Have bungee cords for bulky stuff -- like a replacement roof rack for the KIA. What I dislike: That 1/4 second delay when the traffic signal goes green.

Suzuki S40 -- 652cc single cylinder cruiser, just 380 pounds, wet. A Sheep in wolf clothing, about 30 bhp. You don't sell the same motorcycle for 30 years if it is garbage. Mine was a 2000, I rode it for 30K miles/8 years. Others got 60 mpg, I got 50 mpg -- rather frisky. Want to be lazy? Thump Thump Thump Thump, shift, repeat. Yeah, eight revolutions each gear, 16 thumps, and you will be doing over 40 mph and shifting into gear for cruising. Or, when the traffic signal goes green, you can do zero to forty in first gear, before crossing the intersection. There is no replacement for displacement.
38% displacement, a bit heavier, the SR400 is *NOT* retro. Originally in 1978 and has been produced in Japan since. Which is why it doesn't have an electric starter, it IS a dinosaur.
I like the looks of the V-Star classic V-Twin cruiser, and Suzuki's true standard. Along with Genuine, SYM has the Wolf 150 Classic.

I am in California. License/registration/insurance/etc. are the same for a 50 versus a 150, other than that the 50 cannot keep up with traffic.
In other States you can ride a 50 without a motorcycle license, some States need no license at all. If you can survive the pitiful performance a 50cc is "better" than a 150.

K-Jack Engineering Co. is 2.3 miles from my home. Local dealer is 8.7 miles away, California Boss Hoss Motorcycles. The engines are www.subarupower.com/products/engines/ex-series-features-benefits/ industrial motors with a five year warranty. I took a short spin on a 14 bhp. Oy Vey!! It is not fast, it is not pretty, it is not smooth. It is a Sherman Tank. The finish is very high quality. As an industrial motor it is not balanced, it shakes like a Harley. Old pictures... if you want more I could take more.
