for the time being its got tape over it and I can get it started, think I'll have to replace the entire housing on that side for the lights starter button etc...seriously chinese scooters suck! never had to do so much on one bike, saying that I did have a lot of problems with my gilera a few years ago!

Hi guys, can I give an update to this thread.... It all went really really well! I changed the bearings fairly easy, only problem was that at one side the bearing had completely smashed and the outer race was pretty welded to the wheel, but took all of ten minutes to get out...was a lot easier than I thought, just got the bearings square into the wheel and tapped them down using a socket bit that just fit perfectly on the outer race so I could tap it down squarely... Also changed the brake pads which was incredibly easy However get this! today my bike was in the sun all day long, I went to press the ignition and teh button had heated up so much it snapped off chinese scooters suck!!! it starts by pressing the spring that was under the button but not really sure what to do? I cant really afford the whole part that has the light switches etc

Thanks guys, I do think you are right on the brakes, but there is also a loud knocking every now and then when riding, would the brakes dragging account for that? I am thinking I will replace both brakes and bearings....wish me luck, I really am a novice, is this a job I can do myself (I did the rear brake discs and they are fine!! )

That sucks, heres my rubbish experience...
So had scooters for ten years, all 125cc, the first a Gilera Runner VX worth £3000, that was written off on a car park by a travelling salesman, he was fully comp insurance and accepted full liability so got much more than the bike was worth, I ended up with £1200, the state of the bike, it was literally worth £100 at best...so used the money to buy my first lexmoto zoom 2 (seriously crap bike!) anyway it got stolen a month later, despite being chained to a metal railing in front of ultra modern CCTV on a busy carpark...there were clear images of two men walking up with massive bolt cutters and then wheeling it off, the police never bothered to look at the images...now teh insurance bit, though both of these incidents were absolutely no fault of my own, my insurance is now a whopping £34 a month, it was £9 before!!! its more than a lot of people pay for car insurance fully comp and its only third party fire and theft :/

I just went out in the dark, made a prop to get the front wheel off the ground and gave it a spin... it was surprisingly hard to actually spin, sounded a bit like metal on metal grinding and as it went round there was a high pitch squeak occasionally, but was surprised by how difficult and not freely it was turning, it did seem inline and didnt wobble at all... Any ideas? any help is greatly appreciate

Hi guys I posted elsewhere but got no replies...
My front wheel seems "weird" reminds me of when I had a flat, but I don't have a flat, just seems bumpy and a bit grindy, there are occasional and random loud metalic knocking noises, I'm thinking that the bearings need changing and am reading up as I will attempt to change these myself (I really cannot afford to take it to a garage), from what I describe do you think it is the bearings?

Hi guys,
I'd be really grateful of any help you can give me, I have from this forum before learnt to change the brake pads (yay it worked and they are still fine!!!), so hope some of you with a lot more knowledge than me can help, I think my bearings on my front wheel have gone...
I ride a lexmoto zoom 2 (seriously worst bike ever!), I am incredibly poor and so absolutely dread taking it to a garage, there is so much wrong with it and I try (proudly, though pretty nervously) to do as much as I can myself, I have a joblist that reads like this... 1. repair speedo, 2. repair seat 3. Repair stand, 4. replace exhaust.....so was bracing myself to do the exhaust next when on sunday I turn a corner and hear a quit loud like metalic knock...
It feels a bit rough to ride like when its got a flat but it doesnt, there are knocks and all sorts now and it seems to be getting worse, the problem is like I said I am extremely broke, and it is my only mode of transport..
I did a few google searches on what it most likely is and it sounded like the bearings, from what I describe does that sound right? now to my main question....is this a job I can do myself, I watched a vid on youtube, and it didnt look too difficult (I have no training at all, and am only really condfident at stuff thats pretty logical and straightforward, I wouldnt mess with electrical things I don't understand, I really don't want to kill myself by doing a dangerous job, but if I could do this myself it would save my life (and also mean I can eat more than 9p noodles for the rest of the month!!!)
Thanks for any help guys, I really do appreciate it!!

So I took it to bits and there were no obvious leaks anywhere, in the plastic there seemed to be an accumulation of an oily type substance, but I'd recently sprayed loads of WD40 on some screws on the brake fluid reservoir so hoping thats all it was, topped up the brake fluid as a precaution, but hoping its all ok now

Lexmoto Zoom 2 owner and pmsl I have zero mechanicing knowledge, but by god am I having to learn!
Its one year old....here are the problems...
Broken main stand (if on anything except super flat ground, it rocks forward and falls off) Snapped off left rear view mirror Broken speedometer Broken mud guard Very unreliable fuel gauge Very rusty exhaust
I had to learn how to replace the rear brake pads, done that, now its leaking brake fluid from near the reservoir...
It is actually better to ride than my previous three times the price Gilera Runner, howver the bodywork and overall quality is very cheap, but for £1100 cant really complain!

Tighten everything there it should be simple and take like 15 minutes... Wash everything you got that fluid on Thanks man, I probably sound stupid....but I'm just learning, I really hope I can sort it out, as I cant afford to go to a garage

i got money on it leaking brake fluid thats the only fluid that would be on the handle bars imo. do not wipe your eyes or get any in you mouth and be careful cause brake fluid can eat away plastic if you let it stay on the scooter Thanks for the warning, I've had it on my hands...been to the toilet ...all sorts!!! When I took the pics of the brake leavers, the right ones mechanism looked greasy like the leak was from that area (under the brake fluid reservoir) I checked the level and it seems down slightly, I'll try and get the cover off the handlebars and have a more thorough explore asap...
