Hi guys,
I'd be really grateful of any help you can give me, I have from this forum before learnt to change the brake pads (yay it worked and they are still fine!!!), so hope some of you with a lot more knowledge than me can help, I think my bearings on my front wheel have gone...
I ride a lexmoto zoom 2 (seriously worst bike ever!), I am incredibly poor and so absolutely dread taking it to a garage, there is so much wrong with it and I try (proudly, though pretty nervously) to do as much as I can myself, I have a joblist that reads like this... 1. repair speedo, 2. repair seat 3. Repair stand, 4. replace exhaust.....so was bracing myself to do the exhaust next when on sunday I turn a corner and hear a quit loud like metalic knock...
It feels a bit rough to ride like when its got a flat but it doesnt, there are knocks and all sorts now and it seems to be getting worse, the problem is like I said I am extremely broke, and it is my only mode of transport..
I did a few google searches on what it most likely is and it sounded like the bearings, from what I describe does that sound right? now to my main question....is this a job I can do myself, I watched a vid on youtube, and it didnt look too difficult (I have no training at all, and am only really condfident at stuff thats pretty logical and straightforward, I wouldnt mess with electrical things I don't understand, I really don't want to kill myself by doing a dangerous job, but if I could do this myself it would save my life (and also mean I can eat more than 9p noodles for the rest of the month!!!)
Thanks for any help guys, I really do appreciate it!!

Are you sure it's the bearings?
Have you raised each wheel separately, and rotate it manually to try to feel any vibration?
Does the "metallic" noise happen when you run the engine while the bike stationary??
I don't mean to pour cold water, just trying to help u diagnose it. If you run an engine for a while with a leaking exhaust, it will eventually damage the valves, and if keep on going, eventually the valves may damage the piston and cylinder themselves.

If it's front bearings you should be able to hear the flat spot as you turn wheel, they are pretty cheap to buy and not hard to replace. There should be a # on the bearing, that's the number you will need when ordering the bearings.

Here mine after wheel is removed. I have my plastic cap, axle bolt spacer line up, other side axle nut and plastic cap, and on the inside is your speedometer. When removing wheel do not mess with the brakes, rotor will slide out of the brakes. I would suggest you take pic's as you go so you know where everything go when putting it back together. Replace the bearings,,its easy and fun,,you will need to punch the old ones out,,and tap the new ones in,,just make sure you don't hammer on the DARK INNER part,,hammer on the shinny metal parts,,find a socket that fits nice over top and tap the new ones in,or a block of wood works,,just stay away from dark part,,cause its just a thin cover that will bend and you will damage the new bearings,I wouldn't be as careful punching out the old beat ones,,find a rod and hammer them out from the opposite side...10-4!!
Make sure when you hammer the new ones in they are all the way flush with the wheel,,you will know by the feel when hitting them,,it will feel SOLID!
Or if you have a friend with a shop press you can do it the right way...lol

Hammering isn't the right way? I like hammering.
