Hi guys I posted elsewhere but got no replies...
My front wheel seems "weird" reminds me of when I had a flat, but I don't have a flat, just seems bumpy and a bit grindy, there are occasional and random loud metalic knocking noises, I'm thinking that the bearings need changing and am reading up as I will attempt to change these myself (I really cannot afford to take it to a garage), from what I describe do you think it is the bearings?

Hi If you spin the wheel by hand, how does it sound? and while rotating does it track true or wobble? Take care and ride safely Yours Hank

I just went out in the dark, made a prop to get the front wheel off the ground and gave it a spin... it was surprisingly hard to actually spin, sounded a bit like metal on metal grinding and as it went round there was a high pitch squeak occasionally, but was surprised by how difficult and not freely it was turning, it did seem inline and didnt wobble at all... Any ideas? any help is greatly appreciate

Hi Have you also checked your disc brake pads to see if their binding or locking up? if its not them then it most likely is the wheel bearings or front axle Take care and ride safely Yours Hank

Sounds like the brakes are dragging like Hank said. You can see pretty easily whether they are touching or not.

Thanks guys, I do think you are right on the brakes, but there is also a loud knocking every now and then when riding, would the brakes dragging account for that? I am thinking I will replace both brakes and bearings....wish me luck, I really am a novice, is this a job I can do myself (I did the rear brake discs and they are fine!! )

howdy, i don't know if these are assembled like a car with the same parts in the same order, but that sounds to me like a spun bearing race or if a roller bearing like the cage has let go. that might happen if it had no lube or if the bearing were tightened too much.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken

Hi guys, can I give an update to this thread.... It all went really really well! I changed the bearings fairly easy, only problem was that at one side the bearing had completely smashed and the outer race was pretty welded to the wheel, but took all of ten minutes to get out...was a lot easier than I thought, just got the bearings square into the wheel and tapped them down using a socket bit that just fit perfectly on the outer race so I could tap it down squarely... Also changed the brake pads which was incredibly easy However get this! today my bike was in the sun all day long, I went to press the ignition and teh button had heated up so much it snapped off chinese scooters suck!!! it starts by pressing the spring that was under the button but not really sure what to do? I cant really afford the whole part that has the light switches etc

Is there an upgraded switch or did you mean the whole bike. you should be able to wire in a temporary solution though I don't know if the switch is available separate. Maybe someone here has one they can send you...

for the time being its got tape over it and I can get it started, think I'll have to replace the entire housing on that side for the lights starter button etc...seriously chinese scooters suck! never had to do so much on one bike, saying that I did have a lot of problems with my gilera a few years ago!
