I picked up a 2009 Kawasaki Vulcan 500. Damm near the perfect urban bike.

vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov/decoder/type in your vin..... that will tell us who made the scooter. Odds are it's a TAO TAO. Good deal? Depends on what you paid.

I believe that key is the same one CFMOTO used on the eJewel. However as screwed up as they are...good luck.

Javarod, I think what Alliance Powersports is doing is brand identification. From what I have seen there is exactly zero difference between the SYM badged bikes and the Lance rebadged SYMs. I think they figured out that no dealer is going to carry both the same sized models on their showroom floor, and have decided to segment the smaller bikes into the Lance lineup and showcase the larger displacement bikes under the Sym brand.

The most frequent scooter regret is purchasing a 50cc to elude the insurance requirements in some states. Initially select at least a 125cc engine size that is more compatible with typical metro traffic. Include Lance in your research. One scooter quality opinion. I'm with tortoise on this one, and Tim at Carolina Fun Machines hits the nail on the head. In my opinion , the Lance PCH 125 is one of the best all-around new scoots on the planet. Or you could go used....anything from Japan or Taiwan.

125's are the prevalent scooter engine size in Europe.

That makes sense, not much difference between a 125 and a 150.

That margin is FOB. Factor in the costly freight from CA and that margin shrinks quite a bit. Add in the fact that they prominently display a MSRP that only annotates the addition of freight and prep... it makes it harder to advertise a true OTD price. However, they are still truly competitive with the other Taiwanese scoots, hence our decision to carry the SYM/Lance line.
Larrball... we closed our dealership in July of 2014.

But with their reputation for quality and a super dealer network, these guys are impressive. Back when I was looking for a "premier brand" I basically had three choices. KYMCO, Genuine, or SYM/Lance. I was offered all three franchises, but decided to go with SYM/Lance based on the compatibility of their product lines with our growth direction.( ie focused mainly on scooters). KYMCO has a huge line-up of scooters, atv's, and now motorcycles. In addition they are geared towards the big multi-dealer network. You'll usually see KYMCO aligned with one or more of the Big Four Japanese Motorcycle dealers. Their pricing and inventory requirement mirror those manufactures requirements. Genuine, at the time, was very rigid with their expectations and minimums. I hear they have now loosened up quite a bit. SYM/Lance was geared more for the smaller independent scooter dealer and their policies reflected that. Of course they wanted to push product, who wouldn't... but the also managed to accommodate the smaller dealers. I once had someone ask me which scooters we liked to work on more, the Chinese or the Taiwanese. I said that was a hard question to answer because in the three years we sold the SYM/Lance brand we only had one come back for anything but routine maintenance. Now if only their margins were as juicy as the China scoots.

Naw......blew them suckers out the door in a jiff. Think it was 2011 or '12
They did the same with the Glory's a few years later.

In my opinion, one of the best that CFMOTO ever made. They were discontinued in favor of the FI scoots. I bought a crap load when they were offered to dealers at $500.
