Those came out about 4 years ago. The original was just a 50cc and they always seemed one step behind where the cc should be.
A 250 or at least a real 200 should have been out the year after they were introduced to be really setting the pace. Then again they tried that with the MyRoad 700cc scooter and that appears to have bombed terribly.

But with their reputation for quality and a super dealer network, these guys are impressive. Back when I was looking for a "premier brand" I basically had three choices. KYMCO, Genuine, or SYM/Lance. I was offered all three franchises, but decided to go with SYM/Lance based on the compatibility of their product lines with our growth direction.( ie focused mainly on scooters). KYMCO has a huge line-up of scooters, atv's, and now motorcycles. In addition they are geared towards the big multi-dealer network. You'll usually see KYMCO aligned with one or more of the Big Four Japanese Motorcycle dealers. Their pricing and inventory requirement mirror those manufactures requirements. Genuine, at the time, was very rigid with their expectations and minimums. I hear they have now loosened up quite a bit. SYM/Lance was geared more for the smaller independent scooter dealer and their policies reflected that. Of course they wanted to push product, who wouldn't... but the also managed to accommodate the smaller dealers. I once had someone ask me which scooters we liked to work on more, the Chinese or the Taiwanese. I said that was a hard question to answer because in the three years we sold the SYM/Lance brand we only had one come back for anything but routine maintenance. Now if only their margins were as juicy as the China scoots.

cookees, What brand of scooters are you selling now? I remember on the old scoot form you talking about dropping a brand due to dealer support. I went with GS due to the fact i like the RH sport, i got a heck of a deal and it was the only dealer close by 20 miles away and the owner does all the work and he is picky to the Tee as i did my own PDI and i was inpressed. The kcmco dealer is about 150 miles away and i don't know if they even sell SYM in Mo. As far as working on them, i live in a collage town and most of the students drive kcmco or GS (buddy) and the rest of the loco's drive china scoot's (about 8 where mine at one time) for me the china scoots with the GY6 are easy'er to work on but the problem i almost always run in to is cost-- even when i do some of the work for free. They just don't want to hear the tune "it will be around $50.00" and some how i really don't blame some of them as some bought a used scooter that is in need of some repair (and almost always an oil change).

Cookies - The Lance margin at over 30% comes to over $800 per bike which does not seem that bad especially since they do not require much if any warranty work. Then again at $800 a bike how many do you have to sell every week to keep the doors open.

That margin is FOB. Factor in the costly freight from CA and that margin shrinks quite a bit. Add in the fact that they prominently display a MSRP that only annotates the addition of freight and prep... it makes it harder to advertise a true OTD price. However, they are still truly competitive with the other Taiwanese scoots, hence our decision to carry the SYM/Lance line.
Larrball... we closed our dealership in July of 2014.

Hmmm...
I'm a major Kymco fan, but this one just is not my "cup of tea". Just me... To my eye, it's too much "dirt-bike" in appearance, and too small an engine. Still, just me... There is likely a big market for such bikes. They ARE "real" motorcycles, yet handy, like the small Hondas of my youth fifty years back. You couldn't order Hondas like this fast enough to keep up with demand! And Kymco makes terrific products.
I'm a poor reference for the current market because my FAVORITE Kymco bikes are those that never sold well. Cheesh!
If I was in the market for a big touring bike, I'd definitely put the "My Road" high on my list, right up there with Harley and Indian baggers, but SO much more affordable AND easier to ride. Guess I'm just old and curmudgeonly enough to stay stuck on out-of-date rides... LOL!
I surely do wish you the best with your business though! For the record, I do LOVE the SYM scoots. They just aren't seen much in my area.
Have a great one!

The K-Pipe would work a lot better for me than the Grom. The bigger diameter wheels will absorb the bumps better. I likely will not buy something with an engine that small. The commuting routes in my area have high speed limits.
