thanks all. but while you were all giving great advice i was cracking the gear box. as carasdad said i have to know or i might of been doing myself a disservice. i didn't know about the tire. it turned out to be a straight 4:1 13/52 so since im puting in a bbk im going with a 14/32 which will be about the right upgear. thanks. Not what you said before ;D But either way going 10 down is still to much you will be pushing that thing to get it going and you will need really high rpms to turn the Variator fast enough. But you do what you want just trying to let you know ahead of time it will be a dog starting off and getting up to speed. Alleyoop Don't want to see you doing one of these numbers I'm still confused because Mo at scrappy just told me they would be fine. I gave him all the numbers. so I'm baffled.

where would you get bigger gears from? out of which kinds of motors? which, gears match up? find out what kind of engine you have then go to scrappydawgscooters.com and search performance under your model. they will have gears there. figure out your gear ratio and how much you want to change it. its actually pretty complex and takes some studying.

Yep, if you do not have the power to pull the taller gears you will be pulling them out. I agree going from 13/52 to 14/32 is quite a jump , maybe go 3 up and 3 down that would not be so bad and the gain would be anywhere from 8-10 REAL mph gain. Alleyoop NO it is 13/44 to 14/32 doesnt sound too bad when you take about ten off that number. Right. lol.

keep the math in mind if you read throughout the post we've established that this will be about a 32 percent up gear and a 40 percent power increase so they should pull just fine. unless you know something i dont.

actualy after doing some math you were right the second time it will be the 32% increase. my rim is about 11'' wont my engine pull the gears well with a bbk i mean i am increasing power by 40%.

thanks all. but while you were all giving great advice i was cracking the gear box. as carasdad said i have to know or i might of been doing myself a disservice. i didn't know about the tire. it turned out to be a straight 4:1 13/52 so since im puting in a bbk im going with a 14/32 which will be about the right upgear. thanks. You do know the 14/32 primary is going to give you a 7.25:1 ratio if your secondary is the typical 13/44 which is 3.38.1 3.38.1 X 2.28.1= 7.25:1 If your primary is as you said 13/52 and secondary is 13/44 you started out with a 13.52:1 ratio. Going to 14/32 on your primary from 13/52 is a 46.37% increase...with a final ratio of 7.25:1...your gonna need a tractor to pull those gears!!! 10:1 to 11:1 is what most shoot for. If you are doing a secondary gear swap with that 14/32 and primary is 13/52...you will end up with 9.14:1 which is still really steep and huge jump up. 32.39% So what are your current stock gears...primary and secondary? Im actually doing the kind of gears you get pressed so it so i quess it would be the middle assembly.
