idk, i tried to find repair video's or a manual so we could see the internal parts but came up empty. i didn't look hard though. i once saw the internals of a Suzuki burgman in a YT vid and was blown away at the quality.

not sure if this is common knowledge. well it's not common to me, i've damaged a few with vise grips in the past. not anymore using this little trick.

wish i could find all my spare parts. i've moved 3 times in the past year. think i left them behind. i had a yellow contra spring, would have gave it to you. I have a habit of giving away spare parts, I figure if I don't need them I might as well give them to someone who can use them , and then I end up needing something , lol. Or I give my old engine case with crank and other parts still attached to my neighbor to scrap i have a general rule that if i can go a week without it then i don't need it. guess that's why i have so few belongings. but when it comes to tools and spare parts that rule has to go out the window.

bet that makes a big difference. wish i had an oil temp gauge so we could compare. i'm probably running in the high 300's considering all the worn out bearings. my cam is in such bad shape it's fused to the rocker arm, lol. if i can just get this oil leak fixed then i'm gonna run it into the ground. hopefully it lasts at least 3 months. i need at least that amount of time before i can get something else. I took the scoot out this morning and I got these results. Outside temp 62 degrees Idle temp 158 degrees Cruise temp 185 degrees Wot temp 212 degrees Those are good numbers , but the temps outside where low. I can't wait to get the other cooling fan cover . I hope my temps going up is Not a result of a bigger issue then the cooling fan cover . those temps seem fine. i doubt you even need a new fan cover so don't sweat it too much if the new part has similar results. especially if you hit 300 on another degree day.

I didn't really do anything except for adding The air scoop . bet that makes a big difference. wish i had an oil temp gauge so we could compare. i'm probably running in the high 300's considering all the worn out bearings. my cam is in such bad shape it's fused to the rocker arm, lol. if i can just get this oil leak fixed then i'm gonna run it into the ground. hopefully it lasts at least 3 months. i need at least that amount of time before i can get something else.

and i thought my massacred variator was bad, wow. i think i figured out why mine was destroyed. my crank has some play on the variator side. i think the added heat from a bad bearing caused mine to disintegrate.
i doubt that was your problem since it happened so fast but you might want to check that bearing anyway.

i'd rather have one quality scooter than two tinker toys.

how old are the crank bearings and cam bearings? more friction is going to cause more heat. something to consider.

If you don't want to do it yourself, and I'm sure you could, I'd take it to a scooter shop. I don't know about Piggys, but if they are anything like a gy6, an auto mechanic might strip your bolts. These GY6's metals are so soft. I use one hand to tighten most scooter bolts now. I do the oil plug with both hands but I still don't torque on it too much. yep, i'd rather it fall off than strip the threads. i use thread locker on the gear oil bolts. the spring on the oil plug puts enough tension on the threads that i'm not too concerned of it rattling loose.

i'm not sure either. i read a thread here awhile ago and iicr his oil temps were in the high 300's or maybe it was high 200's, either way it was much hotter than 240. if i find it i'll link it here later. i really think your oil temps are fine though. probably better than fine really, how do you keep that engine so cool?

i don't know captjeff, none of my scooters ever had an oil light. maybe someone else can help you, in the meantime make sure the levels are good.

i didn't know rings could reposition over time. do you think that is what happened or perhaps they were installed that way from the factory? anyhow, i haven't checked the compression but it is noticeably better. starts easy and the erratic idle is mostly gone. I have been doing the rings/cylinder thing too. Evidently, rings can move. From my research: honing the cylinder properly will limit ring movement, and ring movement will cease/stop once properly seated and broken in. So, it's important to hone the cylinder when you have it apart, clock the rings correctly, and get a proper break in. yeah, if i wasn't pinching pennies right now i would do it properly. plus i don't know how many more miles i'm going to get before i'll need to split the case. the bearing on the variator side is bad so really don't want to put any more money into this scoot. i'm just hoping to get 3 more months out of it.

oil change is the easiest thing you can do on these scoots but if you're really not comfortable with a wrench then i would call and find out if you can make an appointment.

maybe like you guys pointed out, it's seized. how can i test for that? remove the fan cover and try rotating the engine by hand.
