I'm looking for a new scoot, those Bajaj and LML Vespa clones are common here, the price is a lot lower than a genuine Vespa, they look rugged, no idea if they are just the same as a Vespa, or if they have differences, are they any good?

I looked up LML and they only received rights to make the older style gear shift Vespa in the smaller displacements. The larger bikes will be a Korean design with a tubular rear frame attached to a Vespa Style front frame with body panels covering the back half to make them appear like a Vespa.
Will they be as reliable as the current Vespa Piaggie Leader and Master Engine powered bike is up for debate. Genuine Buddy here in the US has a better track record on quality from what I can tell.
Bajaj since the son took over is not interested in the scooter market so I am not sure what attention to detail they are giving them. Last I heard there was a family squabble going on over the son's intention to drop scooters altogether and just make motorcycles.

I forgot to mention, I'm talking about the older Vespa style scooters, 150cc, I'm looking for a second hand "branded" scooter.

idk, i tried to find repair video's or a manual so we could see the internal parts but came up empty. i didn't look hard though. i once saw the internals of a Suzuki burgman in a YT vid and was blown away at the quality.

Bottom line is you have to look carefully as only the older ones built under license using Piaggio designs will be 100% compatible with the Piaggio supplies. My nephew has a Genuine Stella and so far it has been compatible with any Piaggio part he has used on it. That makes maintenance a bit easier since most times he can just walk into the local Vespa dealership and get maintenance supplies and accessories right off the shelf and has even bought some Vespa accessories off of Craigs list which fit perfectly on the Genuine Stella.
Watch out for Vespa Style fronts bolted to rear tubular frames that only look like the Vespa Unibody but do not have the same rigidity.
