to my knowledge you shouldn't find anything like that on a 150cc. is it new? i just bought a new 150cc Jonway and it was running lean. for awhile i could only reach 35mph on the speedo. drilled out the cap over the fuel/air adjustment screw, went from a 108 main jet to a 112 and replaced the needle with one i could adjust moving the clip down 3 notches. works gr8 now, had it up to 60 on the speedometer (probably 50mph actual) with more to give.
easy way to tell if your scoot will benefit from doing the above, pull the spark plug to see if it is running lean or rich. if the plug looks good then you may need to play with the variator weights. mine came with 10.5 gram weights and seems to work good for me. i'm about 220lbs.

Update: I bypassed the petcock by connecting the carb right to the fuel filter and it made no difference, so it's definitely not a problem with getting gas to the carb. agree with everyone else, start with valve adjustment. i do mine about every 1,000-2,000km on my old atm50 and just did one on my new 150 Jonway with only 145km on the odometer. the first time it probably took me an hour (maybe a little longer) but now can do it in under 30 minutes on my atm50. just watch many how to vids until you feel comfortable doing it yourself. you will definitely notice a change in performance afterwards and will likely fix your problem. note: you will have to tune the carb after valve adjustment. here is another how to vid. i prefer to use a small pair of vise grips and a 9mm wrench but his method with his tools works also just a bit more difficult imo.

It made it to 25000 kms. until I got rear ended by a car which destroyed it completely. It was still running fine at the time. Nothing was salvageable from the remains of the scooter. I was fortunately uninjured . wow that sucks. their is another member here that was also rear-ended and said he was in a coma for 2 months iicr. good to hear you weren't injured.

rode it to the store today and noticed the speedometer wasn't working. guessing the cable broke again. it was practically new, about 2,000km.

taking the BRC last month on a honda rebel has me thinking i'd rather ride a cruiser than a scooter. unfortunately i just put most of my money into a new 150cc Jonway so it will be awhile before i get another bike. gives me time to decide what i really want. i'd definitely be interested in that 650 yamaha.

That is a lot of money for that specific scooter. For another $100 -$200 you can get a new one delivered to your door if you can do the PDI. probably closer to $300 more and then you have to deal with the headache that comes with buying online. depending on what problems you encounter that headache can get awful expensive. i'd definitely pay $300 more than online prices for the convenience of driving it off the lot. that puts his scooter closer to $1,350 new imo. i just ordered a new 150cc Jonway last month. got it on the road 2 weeks ago and now has nearly 300km. i paid $1,030 delivered, i wouldn't take less than $1,300 if i sold it today. just saying convenience of taking it home now makes it worth more imo.

how much backfiring would it take too damage it? just asking cause i need run it for testing and need to go to the store also. i know how to keep it from popping mostly just taking it easy on her but it does happen. shop open tuesday. i'll get a seal then. idk, one of the pro's will have to chime in on this one. to my knowledge backfiring is a lean condition so you may have to rejet. my new 150cc was running lean for nearly 150km before i finally fixed the problem. i just didn't run it for more than 15-20 minutes and then let it cool down. mine wasn't backfiring though.

got the new mirrors on today. the right mirror never stayed in one position. the heads on the hardware were near stripped so i wasn't able to torque enough to keep it in place. everytime i twist the throttle the whole assembly would move. i thought about buying a new kill/starter switch but none of them appear to come with hardware.
pulled out the drill today and fixed it for good. bolt through the handle bar and it is never moving again. i should have done this along time ago. looks fine and works great. also changed the oil one last time. just needs a bath and it's ready for sale. really gonna miss her.

It took this guy 10 minutes to say he is using a piece of plastic or rubber hose to hold a non metallic screw on a screwdriver. It works, I can say that much. Woodworkers, and mechanics have been using clear tubing, vacuum line, fuel line, etc. for this for years. yea but this is the first guy that decided to market the idea. sorta like when bottled water was promoted in the 80's. you wouldn't think anyone would pay for something you could get for free (or nearly free). most of us laughed at the idea of bottled water but now water has become the new gold. meh, probably not a great analogy. point is people will buy into anything if it is marketed properly. still a very useful tool regardless if you buy or create your own.

i usally have someone flaot the tail for me while i put it on. how tight should i turn the bolts because i don't want to break them. i use my foot to hold it in place. a drop of blue thread locker will keep them from vibrating free and then as Alley said just snug. it doesn't take much to break them. i rode my scoot for nearly a week with only one stud because i torqued a bit too much. their is a fine line between over tightening and vibrating free so the thread locker is a must imo. edit: although that was on a 50cc with 6mm studs. i think the 150's have 8mm studs so probably less likely to break. i'd still keep it under 10/lbs of torque.

your seller or buyer on craigslist .(seller) you get an email will you take "X" for it, here is my number text me . (The email response) when did you want to come get it ? what is your interpretation of above as both seller or buyer ? John most would interpret the offer was agreed but many (myself included) won't make deals over the phone/email on craigslist. i haven't sold much through craigslist but i was taught to respond to offers with a phrase something like, "come and see it and i will give you a good deal." reason being a tough negotiator will not likely honor his original offer. so it's best to negotiate price in person. what happened?

Is there any way for me to remove my avatar? you can change it by going to profile and then edit profile. i don't think you can choose no avatar.

I was an ER tech in my 20's. No helmet is bad JuJu Buana! Brain injuries, ears, nose, scalp, and chin ground off. We saw it over and over again. Murdercycles were what motorcycles were called in the E.R. Always a helmet for me and always full face. i definitely need/want to buy a full face helmet. i took a spill at about 35mph last year doing a face plant in the wet grass sliding about 50 feet. the face shield on my 3/4 helmet was enough protection in that scenario but i don't always ride with it down and probably no match on concrete.

My son gets mad at me when he visits because I make him wear jeans, helmet and glasses. I tell him "son, don't be dumb like your dad". He realized what I was talking about after he saw a spring breaker go down pretty hard. After seeing some of the nuts on scooters and cars I don't ride down to the end of the beach much anymore. I like my little part of the beach where traffic stays the same all year (slow and not much of it). I find myself staying in the neighborhoods a lot more then I use to. Safer that way. i have had 2 minor falls on a scooter. once in the 80's and once just last year. both times not a car in sight. you never know when or how it might happen. could be a pot hole, a dog, a squirrel, gravel, oil... meh, just saying their are many potential hazards not only cagers. and that last minor fall put me out of work for a week. i only had helmet and gloves. bought an armored mesh jacket after that spill. probably would have been back to work sooner if i was wearing it then.
