I have a 2010 Tao Tao CYT3 50 scooter that I bought new in the crate. It has over 20000 kms on it. My question is how long will these things last? I have went thru 2 sets of tires,3 drive belts,1 set of variator rollers plus the routine maintenance. I plan on running it until it wears out beyond economical repair. Then I will get another one.

That depends. Like anything cheap, you might get a good or you'll probably get a bad one. Seems like you got a good one.

My question is how long will these things last? think it depends on how many repairs you're willing to do. technically they could last forever if you want to repair every part as they wear out. personally i don't think i ever want to replace a crankshaft so that would be the death of my scoot. i have a 2011 atm50 with about 14,000km that still runs good.

Two of my friends ride scooters. One a Tao Tao ATM50 with 8,000 miles and running strong. The other had a Peace with an engine that died at like 5,000. He then bought a GMW R1 and killed the engine at like 6,000. I've done most of the maintenance on all these scooters. Pretty much luck of the draw.

It made it to 25000 kms. until I got rear ended by a car which destroyed it completely. It was still running fine at the time. Nothing was salvageable from the remains of the scooter. I was fortunately uninjured .
