Update on the 150- The 150 gave me a few fits this morning, but is now hauling my butt around. 1)Battery charged. 2) New fuel and vac lines. 3)No start (missed a vac line hook-up. 4) Tried to start finally. Dug in pulled the carb, cleanded jets and back together. 5) Fired/ran/purred on third crank. The bad- Trying to clean the melted protective wrap off everything is a very slow process. Need to shop for a new speedo gauge and fuel gauge. Got hot enough in the fire that the needles warped (must be very thin) and are hanging up on the inside of the glass. Also wondering just how difficult to title them just having the cert of origins for them. Read more: itistheride.boards.net/thread/9379/score-update-on-2#ixzz47jCSA77o

Update on the ST125. Pulled the carb and cleaned it (wasn't too bad). Fresh gas, had to kick start, but runs. Will put a charge on the battery tonight. Moving on to the 150 to see if I have fire.... Was a good day!

Added two more and cost zilch as in "They have some smoke damage. Come get them or we will scrap 'em!" A 2013 ST-125 with 12 miles and the other a 2011 retro 150cc with .4 miles. Just couldn't pass them up so have already started my own PDI on them. Enjoy! Will most likely be posting some questions.

I assume a 50, since that speedometer show 80 km/h is in red. Negatory. As my post said it is a GY6, and with my butt on it for that many miles and wrenching on it since 2006 I should know. It IS NOT a 50.

2006 Tank purchased new and still with me. Haven't posted much because if you service the GY6 and don't rod the wizz out of it ultimately you could get this out of it..... Just turned today.

Can you find somebody to help you? Any scooter clubs in your area?

Where does it look like it is leaking? Running from the top of the engine down, or lower, or leaking from a hose?

Thanks for posting the links. Way I figure it, I saved myself $60+ though and learned something in the process.

Gear oil has a VERY distinctive smell to it compared to motor oil. I never smelled gear oil. I change it in the beginning, and after 3k miles and it just looks like new (yellowish), with some particles of metal flakes in. Maybe it smells because your gearbox is leaking, and water enters in it. When water enters in the gear oil, it gets captured by the additives, and starts rotting. I would recommend you to change gear oil more often if you notice that happening

I have been fighting a starter issue for 6 months and decided I would figure it out once and for all.
I would hit the start button and it would either fire right up or I would have to hold it down until it caught (always sounded like a low battery). If not I had to kickstart it. Put my spare starter on and started doing the same thing. I took my battery and had it load tested Friday and it checked out okay. While I had the battery out I grabbed one the starters, grounded the case to the neg terminal on the battery and touched the starter cable to the battery. Nothing!
Took the starter apart and quess what fell out? The negative side brush had come loose from the terminal. Soldered it back in good, put the starter back together (tricky to get brushes to clear the armature). Did the same test with the repaired started and zing! Pulled the other starter off my scoot and took it apart to find the same issue. Soldered that the brush in that one back on and it passed the test.
Was nice this morning to hit the starter and have it fire right up. Thought I would pass this along.

I have had the Puig on mine since 2006 and never an issue. It is heavy stuff so no flex or anything.
