I too play the guitar. I don't have anything too special, just a Yamaha APX500III, but I love it. I use www.ultimate-guitar.com/ and enjoy the app, despite the minimal cost.

I ride a 150 everywhere, even for brief hops on the highway, but I have a Honda PCX with 14" wheels. If you can afford it, a 200-300 cc option is good, but also consider wheel size. I don't like to travel at more than 50 mph on small wheel scooters. Medium wheel scooters (13-14") I might, and big wheel scooters 14+, I definitely would, but it's about what you're comfortable with.
Consider the wear and tear on the engine and moving parts at high speeds. The faster you'll be traveling on a regular basis, the harder it's going to be on a machine with a smaller engine and tiny wheels. Consider that the bearings and axle may be the same size as a larger wheel, but the small wheel is doing more RPMs and producing more heat and so on. Better to go bigger at the outset than get something that won't put up with the abuse you're subjecting it to.

I can see why you got that 100%. Very well done. I love the little touches of humor you included. Except the nitpicker in me has to point out that the pictured scooter for the VW has a BMW logo on its front.... Meanwhile, I would totally be the lady saying "I say the scooter is dreamy." Years ago, there was a tv series called "Stingray." I was watching with another gal, who started commenting on form and curves and lines and oh-boy hotness. After minutes of this, I realized she was talking about the man not the 'vette. Oops. Her bad. >'Kat I double checked for mumbles, but I couldn't find where I said VW. Thank you for your kind words though. I'm glad you liked it.

I dig em,,,brembo brakes,,,all steel ,,,ol timey look,,,chain drive,,,,,and I'm sure it's a carb and pipe away from 20-22 hp with any kind of luck at all,,,but at $5995 for the one I like,,,I can get a gently used bmw or Ducati ,,,or better yet the g400c from genuine with over a grand left over,, Sure, but it's a frikkin Cushman! And it's made in the US, which is something. But, yeah, that's majesty, Burgman, and Silverwing money.

I've found information that the engines are made by Subaru, but I've only seen one mention. Here: maxi-scoots.com/scoot/index.php?topic=5811.0;prev_next=prev#newseems crazy to get such minimal hp out of such a large displacement engine (400cc), and they could save weight with a smaller displacement, but still, I'm geekin out over here.

I don't know about useless, but certainly more frustrating. All that gear shifting is a pain. Been there, done that, sold the bike and kept the scooter

Understand that this was presented to a class of motorcyclists, most of whom just can't grasp why I prefer scooters to motorcycles.
And thank you most kindly for fixing the link

So apparently some guy in California has started manufacturing Cushman Scooters again. They seem a bit on the expensive side but ooh, I'm having a geek-gasm. Website is www.kjackmotors.com/ but has little real info. They have a facebook page as well. I'm planning on opening my own scooter shop eventually and if these are as good as they look, they'd be in the running for a product line, maybe with Genuine as a secondary brand.

I did a little project for school on the history of the motor scooter. I just got my grade for it yesterday and was pleased to get a 100%

We've already done a bit with suspension, yes. The front forks are decent enough that they are on the back burner. I can also get those shocks from a distributer in Thailand. Bikersbits.com. Price is better, though shipping is two months. Can also get some snappy red side panels for cheap.

Howdy folks. I used to spend a lot of time on the ScootDawg forums about 6-7 years ago. My old scoot was a Kymco People 150 and I put almost 25,000 miles on it before selling it this past August and replacing it with a Honda PCX. After purchasing the PCX, I put over 3800 miles on it, until one month ago I was on an errand for work and locked up the front wheel on some gravel at about 25-30 mph. Some bruised ribs and a broken collar bone later and I've only been back on the scoot once. Of course, it doesn't help any that it's been below freezing and windy the last few days, and that my wife ratted me out to the Dr. after I rode to work last Tuesday. I started motorcycle mechanic school in October and am within three weeks of finishing the first term. The broken shoulder has made it a bit interesting, but I've muddled through. Have only missed one assignment due to the accident. The scooter is fine. I'll get some pics up when I get a chance. And now my question. Anyone have any idea of a good supplier for decent scooter shocks? I've found some I'd like for my PCX, but I have to get them shipped from Europe. I'd also like to get some better fork innards. Unfortunately, there really isn't a lot of aftermarket support for scooters here in the U.S. unless you have a Ruckus or a Burgman. Here's the address of the shocks I found. I think they'd look snappy on my black PCX. www.powerbypcx.com/en/accessories-pcx-v1/255-shocks-absorber-gaz-yss-g-euro-red-adjustable-honda-pcx-125150-v1-v2-v3.htmlThanks in advance for any ideas.
