seller responded by telling me to take it to a scooter mechanic (haha) and opened a counter case against me, claiming since it lasted 40 miles, it wasn't defective Based on your ignition-related previous postings . . yours is an excellent example of why there is typically no returns on electrical parts. Just too many variables at the user end! The counter case by the vendor is justified!

Maybe the pickup coil along with the stator? Test . . including connector continuity.

put a new sparkplug and run it for 1 min before of course it died and it was covered in oil from the middle of the threads to the top of the spark plug So how is excessive oil entering the combustion chamber? Have you tested cylinder compression?

Engine history unknown . . so many fuel-spark-compression related possibilities!
If previous owner modified variator . . belt could be rubbing starter gear (Bendix).
DO NOT run engine like in this video . . Bendix could become a missile!

Always prudent to begin GY6 engine troubleshooting by checking timing, to verify crankshaft-flywheel woodruff key has not sheared, and valve clearance.
Insert a probe into sparkplug hole, position piston at top-dead-center, observe if flywheel T-mark is aligned with case indicator . . then check valve clearance.
The gremlin could also be ignition related . . . at least remove one of the flywheel fan bolts and blow in compressed air to clear out stator dirt.

Am I going to find this when I try to adjust the idle mixture screw? Probably tamper-resistant fuel bowl fasteners as well!
