Hi, All, We picked up a gorgeous 2014 Suzuki Burgman 200 last week. It's got just over 500 miles, purrs like a kitten and roars like a lion. Freeway legal in California (as always, we do note that there's a difference between legal and smart). We got a decent deal on this bike, so we're selling it below KBB at $3395 (plus state taxes and fees). If you know someone in the San Diego area that could use a serious Ride this Christmas, please let them know. We can be reached at 619.501.1554.

Cyborg, I think it's a brilliant solution. I'm not at the shop today, but I'm going to order/buy them and keep them in stock. That buzzing bugs the h3ll out of me.

So, here's a related question. On our project bike we're ordering an NCY Oil Cooler from Scooterworks. The kit seems to include something that looks like a filter (at least looks like a fuel filter). I know that some of you have done this mod... is that what it is? If not, and this is really the more general question, would it be possible/beneficial to add an in-line oil filter to the mix? I'm looking at this thread that's asking much the same thing about motorcycles: Inline Oil Filter LinkIt would seem feasible and would also seem like it would add dramatic life to the oil and intervals between changes. Thoughts? (BTW, if this is something that has been covered ad nauseum in another thread or on the old-site then please point me the right way... I don't want to waste anyone's time reposting, I just think it's an interesting idea).

Hi, all,
I've been away most of the week, and sorry. Starting a new dealership requires just as much work as you might think, especially if one wants to offer the level of concierge-style service that we aspire to...
We did isolate it as the heat shield. I still think that the thermo-tork would be a good idea, but haven't spent a whole lot of time on it since my last post. The spring washers are a GREAT idea, and one I'm going to look at tomorrow.
Thanks all,
Shanty

OK, call me new fashioned, but here's the way we're doing all of our new scoots: we change the oil out immediately to Castrol GTX 10w-40 then give our customers a certificate to come back in at 300 miles where we give their first oil change for free. At that point we use Amsoil Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic 10W-40 Scooter Oil. It's not 20w-50, and BMS calls for 10w-40, but I've seen a lot of consensus that they're fairly interchangeable and the benefits of Amsoil are renown... here's what they have to say about... "Applications and Recommendations AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Synthetic Scooter Oil is recommended for use wherever SAE 10W-40 motor oil is specified in air- and water-cooled four-stroke motorized scooter engines, transmissions and gearboxes that require the following:
API SG, SL/CF JASO MA/MA2 (motorcycle wet clutch) ISO-L-EMA2
Engine manufacturers include, but are not limited to, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, Vespa, Aprilia, Piaggio, Benelli, Vento, Kymco, Tank and TGB."

OK, so I've got a brand new bike that has a heat shield vibration. We disassembled the heat shield and added washers to the back, where there were none (they were on many bolts, but not at the back of the shield). This helped a lot, but didn't solve the problem.
What I've been thinking is that if there were some sort of high-temp rubber gasket or washer then it would absorb or dampen the vibration but, of course, the exhaust is no place for something that could easily melt. We thought about jb weld, but I really don't want to go adding that to a brand new bike. Silicone can't stand the heat. There's a product called 'thermo-tork' that can withstand heat up to 750 degrees F, which I may research further, but I thought that I'd toss it out to the group to see if anyone has had this problem and come up with a clever, non-visible or intrusive solution.
Thanks in advance, shanty

ScrappyDog, please tell me, how is the quality of the "GY6 retrofit oil cooler kit" when compared to the NCY?

So, keeping in mind the bearing and case comment from above, but not yet giving that the full weight of consideration we're probably needing to, we're leaning toward a few items to start: Here are some links for your evaluation, comments, etc. I don't feel confident in my ability to bore, and I don't know my new mechanic well enough to trust him to do it yet, so here is the bbk we're considering. I've read several posts on the old board that discussed this, and I think it will meet with some approval. www.scooterworks.com/ncy-cylinder-kit--aluminum--61mm--171cc---genuine-gy6-products-1028.php#.Vdp21ZdZii8(This, and several other items, are contingent on our being able to set up a dealer's account with Scooter Works, but I understand they're easy to deal with). If you're going to do the bbk, might as well go ahead and put some additional air through the thing. Stock carb is a pretty nice Deni, so we're going to re-jet to 31mm... I'd appreciate advice on that, because I could be thinking about this wrong). We are planning on pairing the Uni UP-4182AST Angled Dual Layer Pod Air Filter ( www.partsforscooters.com/230-33-Uni-air-filter-for-full-size-scooters ) With this beast of an exhaust: www.partsforscooters.com/Performance_pipe_GY6?sc=34&category=132557 (though if anyone has used it and can give me a review, I'd love to hear it... it's really pricey, and if it's not all it's cracked up to be... still, SO... PRETTTTTTY...) To keep the whole thing cool, we're considering this: www.scooterworks.com/ncy-oil-cooler--gy6--genuine-products-495.php#.VdncN5dZii8 I'd love to hear that the 29 dollar ones from Monster Scooter Parts work just as well ( www.monsterscooterparts.com/oil-cooler.html), so if you've actually used one and it rocks far greater than it's budget price would suggest, then please let me know. Haven't spent any time on variator weights yet. We will be installing a Gates Premium or Bando Kevlar belt in the next few days. Have discussed cdi/ignition coil mods previously, but wouldn't mind opening up the floor to that if people have thoughts. Thanks again, all, Shanty

... You might put a picture of a hornet on it to warn people that it's got a powerful sting in spite of its classic scooter look.LOL. That's all great advice, but I kind of love the hornet idea. Thanks, Scooter.

OK, I can't explain either why this image is sideways, or why it's showing in such lower resolution than makes sense to me. I'm going to lower my blood pressure by quitting trying. What excites us about this bike is this: This is the 2012 model of the Legend. These are the last of the BMS Legends, and there's no word about whether they're coming back. They appear to have come out of that era right before BMS decided that everything they did was going to get chrome. So, we looked at the black muffler guard and a couple of other things and said THIS is the bike we're going to beef up beyond all recognition. Here is the chance to get in now with suggestions. Some of them I've heard, MANY of them I've read. We're going to do this up as far as reason allows. Any suggestions on the best BBK for a 150cc that we can put in without major boring or overhaul? How would you jet? Tell us what YOU would do to make THIS bike the performance dream machine. I'm going to start ordering parts on Monday, and immediately put our new mechanic on working on it at least a little every day he's in... our hope is to have a beautifully customized dream-scoot ready for sale in a couple of weeks. Please help us get there!

Actually, that's not a problem at all... they come with Bando belts already, but what they don't come with is the premium belts that allow us to point to what we're doing as better than the next guy... I never want to have to discount ONE penny because someone says "Well, I mean, it's a Chinese Scooter..."
True, it's a Chinese Scooter, and I understand the problems they've encountered in the marketplace and in manufacturing, but that's not the scooter we're carrying. As far as I'm concerned we're carrying a brand that puts real care into their product and that we want to represent honestly as being 'best of breed'. We're going to also point to the way we do our final assembly as a reason to pay more with us. We want to be the top-flight purveyor of what we believe is the up and coming top-flight Chinese Make.
So, a belt upgrade is what OUR brand, Other Ride Motors is going to provide with every bike... we just want guidance on what YOU would want if you were buying a new bike.
I've asked this before, as well: any other obvious PDI upgrades that you can name may very well make onto some or all of our first scoots. Let us know what would make you swoon, without voiding the factory warranty.

OK, so I've been around here and the old board long enough to understand the overwhelming belief that Kevlar is king for belts. I can understand why, as well. What I can't understand is exactly which belts use kevlar.
According to my very knowledgeable and excellent new scooter parts dealer, both the Gates Premium Powerlink and the Continental Contitech Scooter XT V-Belt (835-20-30 for both) are Kevlar, even though neither of them claim to be... they believe that the reason it isn't listed that way is that Kevlar is a registered trademark, but the material is the same. (Gates just claims premium materials, I think Continental uses "Polycord")
Bando DOES use the Kevlar trademark, but for the life of me I can't find one in the 835-20-30 size that does, though "Kevlar" belts for the 50cc models are easier to find).
Any insights, anyone? We're trying to order the very best for our first load of scoots... our initial PDI is going to include a first-rate belt upgrade on all bikes.
Thanks, Shanty

Silly politics........ Even though these small displacement vehicles are more efficient than any SUV available, they are an issue to the corporate bottom line." Efficiency is one thing, emissions are quite another. These little 2 and 4 stroke carb engines pump WAY more greenhouse gasses out than their larger 4-Wheeled counterparts. More efficient, yes, cleaner, no.

My only concern with BMS is that they don't have a Chassis # 5 style offering.
We sold a ton of this style because it really fits a TALL and/or BIG rider. ============================================= Cookees, first, any and all advice you give is something that we want to hear... thanks VERY much for your input. Second, do you think the Kerrigan fills that niche? I love the 16" tires. Haven't yet ridden one, but I will have by the end of next week.

The Pallazo is sexy, Itallian-style fun. Inventory at the end of the summer is a little low at the warehouse, but we're definitely bringing in what we can of the Palazzo to start. Glad yours is a peach!
