it certainly seems that the CVT tranny wins in the maintainance dept. i need to make a correction here. i mentioned earlier you don't need any tools to replace a CVT belt if the CVT didn't have a cover. that's just plain wrong. you need the tools to remove the variator. not only do you need the socket for the crank nut, but you also nee a "tool" to hold the variator. i read an interesting solution somewhere, and it went like this: remove the sparkplug. get a 2 or 3 foot piece of rope. start stuffing it into the plug hole. this will prevent the piston from going past TCD. i've never tried this, so i can't vouch for if it works. for example, can this bend the valve stems? I have done all my wrenching on my Vari and Clutch with a inexpensive Electric Impact and correct socket one of the from Harbor Freight, its like $39 some dollars and then bring the 20% off coupons and your done. Never need anything but my hand and impact to hold the Vari or Hold the clutch together while changing springs. Ok and my Harbour freight impact picture is not uploading.

W650 - You said "I lubed the chain every 200 miles in daily use" which on a motorcyle is at every gas stop or on some with the double sized tanks you'd be stopping halfway to your next gas stop and lubricating the chain. Fire rescue paramedics that I have spoken too in person tell me that easily 25% of single vehicle motorcycle accidents involve chain failure however they only account for about 3% of the fatal motorcycle accidents since many involve the chain failing while starting off from a stop and the rider falling over from the sudden loss of power or sudden stop if it jambs up. Sprocket wear - These pretty much exemplify what I have been seeing over the past 40 some odd years: Seriously anybody running sprockets to that degree is too Stupid to be on a bike Period.............. And the same Village Idiots run there tires near bald witch is that major contributor to accidents. No rider or maintenance course will help these Fools!! I get to the point at my age and experience, they just wad there junk up and stay on the porch were they belonged in the first place. I guess ya just can't fix stupid.

Can't imagine how an oil burner can make it through new emissions regulations, perhaps they will have to develop a "clean" oil that won't affect emissions. There are Smokless and Biodegradable Synthetics out on the market already

Ya I have the same type of open sweet country roads in NC. I run Michelin tires on mine, very sure footed they are. 13" Petty's camp victory junction property backs up to mine, a very humble regular country guy he is. The picture was at the opening of the relocation of the Petty museum on the original Petty farm property just up the road.

Welcome Chuck First thank you for your Military service. Ive done many mod's to my 150, and need to tell you that 70-75mph is down right dangerous on that chassis. I had mine top out at 69.5 gps and its a darn sketchy scary ride in that chassis suspension form, the Front Forks are only held on by a Top Clamp set-up. a very flexi frame, I did upgrade my Rear shocks and stiffened them up. it helped by I have no desire to ride one of these constantly above 60mph. And yes I will have to admit I am using the Synthetic Lucas Stabilizer in my Scoot with Royal Purple as the main engine oil, I'm running a experiment on the Lucas as I have all the components for a +2.2mm Stroke and 61mm Big bore, I want to see the results of the Lucas when I take her down for the upgrade. Piston dude is annal on his oil changes and valve lash, my 150 is a Very Quite Smooth running motor. I can provide you links to all of my upgrades from the CVT to Exhaust, please just ask here or in a pm. Oh and Im just North of you in Randleman NC. I have access to Non Ethanol fuel and only run octane Non Eth. fuel, so really no need for the Sea Foam, sorry I can't edit out the thumbs down dude, not supposed to be there, suppose to be Ninety Three Octane but for some reason when I type in the numeric ninety three the thumbs down dude comes up instead Cheers!

almost every YouTube I see with an Indian on a motorcycle is silly stuff an over powered bike wheeling out from under or a family of five doing 40mph and everyone is wearing sandals! I don't know if it's because that's the way it is or if it's like red necks always shown as fools even though most are sensible Nah Bro they can't drive or ride, and watch a car salesman Run when they come on the lot to shop for a new car.

I would like to have a variator with steel parts cast aluminum gets grooves and pits so fast Or at least a variator made in America cut out of good strong 6160 anodized and heat treated. I also have no use for the fan on the face plate. I could Forge them From 60-61 then Shot Peen to relax the material and a High end Polish on the Ramps or Better here in the States as I have done Clutch Baskets, Brake calipers, Triple clamps etc. Problem is the profit margin is just not there, this Scooter market is trained for very low cost junk parts and upselling is very difficult. never made it out of the meeting room. I could do the same with some very high end Forged pistons and even Cylinders and Nikasil them, same gig the market just=t hasn't shown it would step up to quality American made components. NCY already has a face plate without the fan. See here.......... www.dansgaragetalk.com/topic/686-ankle-biter-nibbi-clutch-ncy-vari-upgrade/?page=1

Here in NC were I live its predominately 50cc Licker Sickles, you don't need a license or insurance to ride a 50cc "As of July 1, 2016, North Carolina law requires that all registered mopeds have liability insurance coverage with limits no less than $30,000/$60,000/$25,000. Failure to maintain liability insurance coverage constitutes a lapse and may result in the revocation of your valid North Carolina license plate." . . source I stand corrected. They still have No insurance as they have No License to have Revoked. Meth Heads, Heroin Heads and Drunks. they are

Want a Vendor who picks up the Phone Here, Ive had stellar customer service from these people. www.partsforscooters.com/I think its Darn Silly for one that has "0" experience to post to others "Don't Mod your Scoot" The little GY-6 Responds Very well to a Variety of Modifications.

The air filter worked great. That wasn't the issue. The big problem I had was the lack of info like someone mentioned. But what you don't know is, I read literally hundreds of threads on the different topics. I called The Ruck Shop, and tried to talk to Scrappy Dog on the phone and over Email. And EVERY answer I got was different. They sell jets in the performance section and make it seem like those would be the only sizes anyone would need. Then frames and stands on the Chinese scoots are so different, I will bet there isn't an aftermarket system that would 100% bolt on. If I didn't have my welder I would still be messing with the dumb system. You have a number to a company that will sell a bolt on exhaust for my 2011 Dong Fang Sunny Scooter?? I highly doubt it. They all claim they fit. And thats half true. But you will have to mod something for it to work. I have been on 4 different Forums. I have read countless posts about mods, jetting. But the info is SO RANDOM its absurd. One person did a air filter and exhaust and claimed they ran the best with a 130 jet.. While others I have read need a 112 or 115. When you have no way to measure your stock jet, that makes it even harder. And then you get jets from vendors and they aren't marked either. I guess what I'm saying is, I got this thing to commute and to have some weekend fun with. The slight performance I gained was not worth it being off the road for a month while I basically had to tinker with it every day. If I bought it as a little project or whatever then I wouldn't be so bent. 100% bolt on system for Dong Fang Sunny, I Own a Dong Fang Sunny 150 www.dansgaragetalk.com/topic/81-150cc-stock-head-pipe-woes/#comment-349The above system was under $70, from the Gy-6 store out of Puerto Rico, 100% bolt up. You need to understand something about jetting, again the notion that a mod will universally take the same meeting is absurd. the only reference you need to do is get a idea what you stock jet size was and you will need At Least Four Sizes up. and you still have Not mentioned you did anything wit the Pilot or Jet Needle, so you Carb Jetting is Less that Ideal. Your Main Jet Mostly effects 1/2-full Throttle, is that the Only RPM range you ride your Scooter? You need a small handful of Pilot Jets and a Needle Jet Clip position change to complete the job. With all the variables there is No One Jets Size Fits All... As far as reading Scooter forums, There are a few of us old farts that have come full circle and in Addition to a full size M/C own a Scooter as a fun little hobby your dealing with the Least Experienced and Least Knowledgeable group I have ever come across. that may ruffle some feathers but it is what it is. Here in NC were I live its predominately 50cc Licker Sickles, you don't need a license or insurance to ride a 50cc, they are all many time DUI offenders and have lost there license so they ride a Licker Sickle, that last group I would be looking for advice from.
