Ok team I just ordered the Tao Tao Powermax 150 and ready for the ride.
Disabled old vet (USAF 1984-1987) who had to retire from R.A. (Rheumatoid Arthritis stage 3-4). I have been looking to get into scooters for some time now and finally made my purchase from TXpowersports (Positive feed back from here helped my choice). I got the Blue / Silver model (USAF Blue!) and have been researching all the maintenance and new parts to get ready to make it solid. As an old Air Force mechanic I can handle this if the R.A. does not get in the way. I will place feed back and info as far as gear changes to weight variator changes etc. my plan is to have it top out (GPS) at 70-75 mph so the motor will not stress doing 55-60 mph. LED conversions exhaust (Chinese exhaust seem to burn out to fast or rust out). Not interested in the scooter getting to 40 mph fast but more interested in the ride.
I had the chance to get the Honda PCX 150 but why pay for a bike for 5 years when I can save and pay for it in 1 and upgrade with less money. So any info on tire ratios to plug to oil etc will be a help. Has anyone ever used Lucas oil treatment (less than an ounce) mixed in the oil and gear oil to help extend the life of the motor. Also who has used Seafoam (Cap full every other tank) to help keep the carb tank and lines cleaned?
Chime in and lets roll with it team...
Time to get ready to go fishing...

Welcome Chuck First thank you for your Military service. Ive done many mod's to my 150, and need to tell you that 70-75mph is down right dangerous on that chassis. I had mine top out at 69.5 gps and its a darn sketchy scary ride in that chassis suspension form, the Front Forks are only held on by a Top Clamp set-up. a very flexi frame, I did upgrade my Rear shocks and stiffened them up. it helped by I have no desire to ride one of these constantly above 60mph. And yes I will have to admit I am using the Synthetic Lucas Stabilizer in my Scoot with Royal Purple as the main engine oil, I'm running a experiment on the Lucas as I have all the components for a +2.2mm Stroke and 61mm Big bore, I want to see the results of the Lucas when I take her down for the upgrade. Piston dude is annal on his oil changes and valve lash, my 150 is a Very Quite Smooth running motor. I can provide you links to all of my upgrades from the CVT to Exhaust, please just ask here or in a pm. Oh and Im just North of you in Randleman NC. I have access to Non Ethanol fuel and only run octane Non Eth. fuel, so really no need for the Sea Foam, sorry I can't edit out the thumbs down dude, not supposed to be there, suppose to be Ninety Three Octane but for some reason when I type in the numeric ninety three the thumbs down dude comes up instead Cheers!

Thanks. yeah I do not want to run 70+mph wide open more than just enough to get out of trouble if needed. 55-60 mph max at my age is good enough. These open back roads in S.C. can be tricky fun lol. Just wanted to check on rear tire size and best gear ratio to have the engine run low rpm doing 55-60 mph. Heedehcheenuh Chuck D Ride on..... p.s. Keep Mr Petty straight over there j/k.

Ya I have the same type of open sweet country roads in NC. I run Michelin tires on mine, very sure footed they are. 13" Petty's camp victory junction property backs up to mine, a very humble regular country guy he is. The picture was at the opening of the relocation of the Petty museum on the original Petty farm property just up the road.

Here she is. just finished the oil change and gear oil change. I will do it again around 600 miles. I think she is good to go. I ran 40 mph gps and speedo showed 40 mph so I may have got lucky. Toped out on one hit trying to help break in she hit 65+ mph but I was to busy watching the road lol I am doing the throttle on and off to help with seating the rings.
