Funny you should mention this, I'm toying with entering a couple of PFS sponsored Chinese scooters in next year's Cannonball... Matt It's one thing to enter, but an entirely different thing to finish... It would be cool for someone to try the Cannonball with a Chinese scooter and make a good showing. Best of luck to you.

HEY guys- When the conversations start to get nasty ,isn't it time to change the subject ? If there are people that don't like Chinese scooters ,then go out and buy the other types that are on the market. This type of posting doesn't solve a thing . Expressing opinions are one thing ,but expressing nasty remarks are something else. Lets get back to helping the members that are having problems OK??? Right now I have to replace a brand new carburetor just because the Gov't ruled that it must be set at the factory and then sealed so it cannot be reset in a different climate. Any of you people have that problem??? This thread wasn't about having mechanical problems, it was about the general attitude towards Chinese scooters... That being said, my Tomos Nitro 150 (made by SYM) had a sealed carb. I had to remove the carb, and pick out the seal on the air/fuel mixture screw. The screws on the diaphragm and the float bowl were sealed, had to break them free. When it was all said and done the carb was fully tuneable, but it was a hassle. It might be possible for you to do the same thing, though I have heard that the carbs on some Chinese scooters don't even have a air/fuel mixture screw...

I'm going to say it again, and continue doing so.
There's nothing wrong with Chinese scooters.
There is something wrong with saying that Chinese scooters are something that they're not.
Answer this: Why hasn't a single Chinese scooter competed in any Cannonball event?
Kymco and SYM both have a few scooter models assembled in China and they are only several hundred dollars more than their Chinese competition. The age old debate of a cheap $1000 scooter vs. something that costs twice or three times as much isn't valid anymore.
I can scan this forum and find for every time someone poked fun at Chinese scooter quality, someone had something to say about the cost of a Taiwanese or Japanese scooter.
What's good for the goose is good for the gander ;D
I still don't see this forum being renamed "It's the Chinese Ride"...
The very title of this thread was provocative and invited opinions from both sides, deal with it!

Most of the people here have Chinese scoots and overall are happy with them. If you wish to add constructive imput you're more than welcome, otherwise there are other places (such as the SYMforum) where you views will be much more appreciated. Maybe someday you will get to be a real moderator? Do you actually believe a Chinese 260cc is even fast enough to hold an actual 80 mph for one hour straight? Those claims seem pretty unbelievable, if not outright bull. Sorry to offend by making fun...

I've ran my 50cc @ 50MPH, my 127cc @60mph, my 150cc@63MPH, and my 260cc @ 80MPH for a few 1 hour trips, and more, without problems. Each one of them I've ridden at least once on a 4 hour trip, some even doing 5 or 6 hour trips on, with varying speeds. Wow! A whole hour? That's impressive! A four hour trip? That's dang near bulletproof! Those chinometers really make you fly

I think I can pull off a valve adjustment, by youtubing it. That's freakin' unbelievable! With all that screwed up techno babble crap you continue to post like you are an expert mechanic, how can you not handle a simple valve job? Remove the valve cover Find top dead center Use the proper size feeler gauge, a little snug but slides in without forcing, next larger gauge shouldn't fit Loosen the nut on top and turn the little square post in the center to get the proper adjustment Torque the locking nut properly and then double check the gap, put the valve cover back on. After a couple of times it should be like a 15 or 20 minute procedure.

Maybe check the gear oil. Could be low or Chinese oil. Maybe check the clutch too.

I carry a shotgun in my car. Last month obnoxious riders with ridiculously loud pipes offended me on six different occasions.
I shot all six, so i guess that proves that "Loud pipes saves lives" isn't true ;D

Givi is expensive though so I'll try to find something similar Check out the price on the link, only 66 bucks. I found the matching backrest on ebay for $18. Put a cheap $3 bicycle reflector on the back. I mounted four metal and rubber loop brackets so I can attach a cargo net on top of the case. It works great for picking up pizza!

I put mine up higher so I could use the center space for a gas can. I put a couple of very small hoop brackets on the floorboard to secure a one gallon can with a bungee.
It is not unusual for my wife and I to ride 250+ miles in a day, and we have gone places that are really way out in the middle of nowhere. There has been a few times where we have driven 50+ miles without even seeing another car on the road.
I noticed you still have your front turn signal stalks. I had to remove mine and use the body integrated lenses so that I had adequate knee clearance when low speed turning at full steering lock.
I also installed some rear passenger pegs so my wife could put her legs in a comfortable position.
That windshield is a life saver. Short enough to see over, but it really cuts down on fatigue during long rides not having to fight the air pressure the entire time. It helps a lot on colder days too.
We got caught in a small rain shower on the way home a few days ago. I tucked down behind the windshield and pulled my knees and feet together, my wife crouched down behind me. We barely got damp in a few spots, we didn't even bother putting our rain gear on. That was the first time we got caught in the rain, but now we know it won't be miserable. Bring on the rain, we are ready to ride anywhere, the heck with the weather!

Check the kick starter and make sure all the parts are in the correct position and aligned properly.
