lain ... I agree, you need a torque wrench. With how many times you have taken your motor apart, and am helping others, you really need one. Did you ever fix your oil seal problem?

joeybee, Have you got the exhaust on and the vid for us? That was on my list of things to do this week, but got pushed aside with my stater motor problem. Once I got that problem figured out and a replacement part on the way, I realized the sensor bung I got on Amazon wasn't the right size. Grrr.... So the correct size bung should be delivered today and welded on this weekend. If my luck changes I should have the new exhaust on by next week. I will defiantly update everyone once it is installed. I was thinking about installing it without the O2 sensor, but I figured since I have the sensor I could demonstrate how the free flow exhaust will affect jetting and the air fuel ratio.

Also, what engine type so you have? On the bottom left of the engine should be a stamp, maybe 157qmj for a 150cc.

We have several trusted vendors that are advertised on the main page. I would stick with those.
Scrappydogscooters.com, and nycscooterparts.com, are two good sources.
If you are just worried about transportation, don't worry about "performance" parts.

Some stock carburetors restrict an owner from opening it to change the jets or adjust the air:fuel ratio. You will see just a brass cap. It's possible to remove the caps, but much easier to just purchase an aftermarket carburator.

Ya I just removed the air box. I capped off the vacuum line and took off the canister. Im confused about one thing tho, for the gas tank vent do I just run a hose with a filter off the vent or do I still use the check valve that was on the line before the canister? i capped off the tube vent for my fuel tank. To allow venting I drilled a hole in the gas cap. That way I don't have to worry about gas leaking from the tube vent. With how small the tanks are I like to fill it as much as possible.

As for the problem, sounds like a carburetor problem. If you have experience with them, I would recommend cleaning it very throughly, clean the jets, and ensure the floats are properly adjusted.
If you are not, you could purchase a new one. With 1200 miles on the scoot, you may still have a restricted carb where access is limited.

that provides a lot of good information. Can you post a video of how the trike sounds when you try to start it with a freshly charged battery? If I'm not mistaken, he did that back near the beginning of this thread I guess I missed the video that was posted by the OP. If you could refer me to that post I would really appreciate it.

I have a question about when the problems first started happening. Did you buy it and it didn't run? Or did it stop working one day after you took it for a cruise? Bought not running. Thought it would be an east fix like every other gy6 I have owned.... nope! I bought a scooter for $150, got it running in 15 minutes. Bought a GY6 go cart, put a new carb in it and had it going in no time..... this is the only GY6 I have really struggled to get going. that provides a lot of good information. Can you post a video of how the trike sounds when you try to start it with a freshly charged battery?

Have you tried replacing the carb? They are typically very cheap.
And by saying you tilt it to the left it stalls. Does it happen immediately, or after a couple minutes of being stopped?

GEH
I see what you are talking about with the 45degree bend. But how effective is that at removing the filter from the engine heat?

I would check all your electrical contacts. Battery, starter solenoid, starter, frame and engine ground. Starter sounds like it is dragging. Could be a bad starter, but best to check electrical contacts first. I checked all the connections. I was recording a video of how to check the path of current from the battery to the stater. I thought I could make a troubleshooting video showing all connections were good and the path of current was good till the spark plug. The only conclusion left would be the battery. I would install the new battery and at da... Scooter fires up. Well... That didn't work out. Every electrical component was good, I installed the new battery, and NOTHING... At least with all the testing, and taking readings, the stater motor stood out as the problem.

Long shot, but this happened to me. Loose plug boot cap, kickstarting made it connect. Replaced and no problems since (9 months). Thanks for the suggestion. I'll take a look at the boot cap. Replacing the stock cap and wire with an NGK setup has been on my list of enhancements. I'm eager to fix the problem before I'm another cager driving to work.
