Thanks artman. You live in WA? Looking for a detailer for my truck The endcaps look nice and shiny but the 2 middle pieces don't. Problem is I had to sand so aggressively on the pitting that a lot of the nickle is showing through that you can't see in the picture.

Cleaned them up a little. Ended up using 600grit and 3M very fine scotch pad. I'll be lazy for now and leave it. Will probably end up painting it in a couple weeks. They are still pitted a little, but paint will cover that. Really liked that duplicolor...just need to pick a color and find out if i need a clear coat over it.

I rode yesterday. Took the second to last turn to home and power faulted. Kept feeling something weird with the power. Almost to the last turn and ran out of fuel. Was able to coast the remaining block into the driveway!!!! Must have been going 5mph the last few feet, hahahaha

I thought it was chrome because i sanded a little piece and it looked like nickle underneath. Think it is pitted with rust too bad for steel wool but i'll try. Then on to Krylon.

Repainted my muffler. Took off the little pieces that were chrome because they are very rusty and nasty looking. What do you guys recommend to refinish those pieces? Too cost prohibitive to rechrome them. Chrome paint? Silver? Thoughts? *Doesn't have to be great since i did a crappy job painting the muffler anyway and i'm trying to make this thing decent at the lowest cost.

Not sure what yours looks like. Should be able to push the lever forward to take tension off the nut and run the nut in a couple turns. You should easily notice if the cable twists with the nut or not.
*NOT the hand brake lever. I mean the lever connected to the brakes.
**EDIT..couldn't find a good video on here so found another. About the 3:15 mark you can see everything clearly and what to do.

Took off the levers (clutch/brake) and realized how cheaply made they are. Seems they bind up a little, already have wear marks after less then 50miles. Lubed them up good and plenty with some white lithium grease. 100% better. *careful Kat...sometimes better to blow through than try and stop, specially if you aren't paying close attention to what is behind you.

Since the wife broke her arm (not just fractured like we thought), she won't be riding for a few months. Took off the faulty vacuum petcock and installed a manual one. Also changed the fuel filter. Since I was playing around decided to find out why the horn wasn't working. Took ALL the plastics off just to find out I only needed to take off the front that had NO screws. Horn doesn't work so need to order a new one. What are these plugs though? ? One goes to the head lights (the four wire). The other three I have no idea. Pretty sure none of them go together.

First real ride on the scoot. A little hard to see the speedometer at night. Mirrors are useless. I'm not even 6' and all I can see is my self. Have to scrunch down to see behind me. Brakes still have me worried but I bet it is normal. I should have worked on them but so excited to have my plate and tabs wanted to ride into work. Didn't spill my coffee until i got to the lot at work. Need some kind of holder or i don't get decent coffee Guess I could use a thermos but would be a big pain. Have put more miles on this thing in a week than the previous owners did in 6years! *just delirious from lack of sleep Have a GREAT weekend!

Yeah they do that tar chip thing here. I actually slid out into traffic because i couldn't stop in time. Punched it as I was sliding out and a car was coming My fault for going to fast but that stuff is dangerous anyway.

Hahaha...that's funny. Was just thinking the same thing about that lousy valve/reservoir thing last week when i bleed the brakes. Now i'm wondering if there is a way to bypass it...probably not worth my time.
*so you sure those rubber pieces aren't just caps to the bolts? I can't imagine that design would be so crappy as to have to remove the wheel.
**edit...well that's stupid. I guess you do have to drop the wheel. Caliper will slide off once you do.

Still have a LOT of work to do but I made an offer of $200 and he accepted. *actually he wants to sign it over in my name and not have me pay for a few months just to make sure i'm happy with it and the purchase...LOL. **edit..blinker now works fine, must have gotten some water in the connections. Now i have a spare..hahahaha

I always put the old pads back in and pry them apart with a screw driver. That way you don't damage the pistons and just throw away the old pads after. If you have added fluid since the pad have worn away you may have to open the master cylinder and remove some fluid so it doesn't over flow when compressing pistons.
