That's exactly what it's doing. Yeah I'm not going to mess around trying to get the current pump to work properly, I'll just stick an electric on there and be done with it. Anyone know off hand what volume of pump I would need? I imagine it's not a whole lot. Thanks guys...If not for ya'll I would have been trying to fix the wrong problem. Rocky, I bet the bottom two bolts on the head and the exhaust valve are a real PITA to get at tho.

Tach Help

Yup thats the exact one I got. The yellow wire is the one I'm having issues with. I saw a video on youtube where a guy was hooking the same unit up to his 250cc atv and he put it in the same spot that I put mine on and his was acting all wonky too.

65 huh? Yeah sounds doable, it was still accelerating before it cut out. I'm thinking it's too lean due to the problem was the same @ 45 mph when I fo sho was running lean, and now at 45 I can run all day. It didn't do it's thing until I went over 60 with it. As for top speed, I don't ever intend to take this thing over 65, it's just way too sketchy on a large open road here. Remember I'm less than 20 miles from a beach and near a massive river that cuts through the center of the city. We get really strong winds in open spaces like 4 lane roads. Add the wind to the shape of this scoot to the shape of me (6'2" 48" chest) plus speed all equals a bad idea.
I'm fairly certain I'm in need of a valve job, but have been putting it off because I'm not wanting to drop the motor out of this thing more than I have to and plan on putting a new head on next month. For the time being I can live with how it performs. It's already like a totally different scoot.
I did rejet the carb from 110 to a 120 main and now it's running a tad on the rich side (no cutting out at speed). I'll drop back to the 115 and see how she does. I'm getting dam fast at pulling this carb and putting it back on.

Tach Help

I dunno, Now I just think this thing is on crack. Took the scoot out for a spin and sometimes wile cruising or at idle it reads where it should be, other times wile cruising or accelerating, the needle is buried @ 13k. Then "sometimes" I can goos it when it's acting up and it will settle down and behave. Guess I'll put a better tach on my shopping list for next month. Recommendations welcomed.
Oh it's hooked to the lead on the coil.

Tach Help

I decided to put a tach on my scoot so I bought a nifty little unit from the bay. (mind you, I've never installed a tach on anything) I wired it up per the sellers instructions 2 positives and 2 negative to a 12vdc power source. The fifth wire to the signal, or coil if you will. Still I can't get it to work. If I put it on the negative pole on the coil I get nothing but lights, then if I stick it to the positive pole it acts more like a volt meter telling me how much juice the stator is putting out. Am I missing something here, or am I just not hooking it up right. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm not familiar with your scoot, but the pic of the one you linked looks to have a mount that is intended for a scoot with dual rear shocks. So if you only have one shock then no it won't fit.
And not to be a downer, at your price range you are going to have a hard time finding an exhaust that isn't going to need "some" modification to fit properly. Even the one I bought I had to put in a vice to bend the tabs so they would reach my mounting holes.

So stoked right now, just got back from a test ride and the Lance broke 60. Well 63 according to my speedo, and we all know chinese speedos are super accurate. :)Anyway, I'm happy because before my mods it would barely reach 50. During my ride I was cruising and when I looked down at the speedo I was doing 50, and still had a lots of throttle left so I gunned it. I'm still running a little lean because after about 5 seconds of going over 60 it started cutting out on me. So now back to the shop to up my jet size and do a little tooning.
List of mods yanked the old airbox off and put on a uni Hoca 115mm variator 12 gram rollers Performance exhaust with a true 1inch header Performance clutch Hot coil w NGK iridium plug Cooling fan scoop
Also I have a makeshift cold air intake. On the left side I installed another cooling scoop to a hole in the body panel and just behind that I have my uni filter using large radiator hose to attach to the carb. Won't help much during idle but should feed a good bit of cold air to the carb wile cruising. If nothing else, this is helping to keep my engine compartment significantly cooler. Before you could heat your lunch in my under seat compartment. The body on this Lance doesn't do an air cooled engine any favors.
I bought a DC fired CDI but come to find out the 2008 Vintage switched over to an AC from the DC they used in 2007. I also bought a 30mm carb and intake manifold only to find that the carb is too big and so is the intake. The cross beam wont allow me to use either together or mix matched with the stock carb or intake. Oh well, best laid plans of mice and men. I did do a little port work on the stock intake to open it up a little. Now I'm looking at a 2.75" intake riser. Unless someone has a better idea? So I can go over to the better carb and intake.

Are your pegs spring loaded? I ask because mine aren't and I'm having a hard time seeing how they would fold back on her. I'm not sure changing the pegs will help much. There's something going on with the way she rides. But having said that, changing them just to keep her happy is 20 bucks well spent. Not to mention it shows her that you at least care about her comfort.
Sorry I can't tell you if the pegs fit or not, but IMO 20 bucks is worth risking. Also as for tightening them up. There may be better ways but I personally would go to my local Ace hardware and look for some washers to shim them up with.

oldchopperguy Thank you kind sir. Hard to believe it's only been 4 months since I picked up my first piece of leather...ever. And as for the muffler, well this weekend has been very busy. Installed a hoca 115mm variator, new clutch, muffler w performance header, intake manifold, cdi, coil, iri plug, uni air filter, kevlar belt, high torque starter and larger jets. I'm about to pull the head off and since I plan on getting a 4 valve setup, play with the idea of working on my port and polishing.. I did try putting on a bigger carb, but someone put a massive crossbrace on this thing. I'm gonna have to hack it out and reweld some supports before I can go any larger on the carb.. Oh I forgot, as soon as my shipment of rivets gets here, I'm starting work on the saddle bags... As for the rest of the "oldschool" treatment I want to first get it running how I want it so I have a solid or at least a more solid platform to work with. So in the mean time I'm researching styling ques from a lot of the really old indians and harleys, and of course scoots, might even take some ideas from some old cars like the model t. Love those brass lights on those things. We think alike in that the top rack is already on the menu. ride safe

I'm with Oldchopperguy in that I love the sporty looks of the new modern scoots, but also love the style and design of the older or vintage scooters. When looking to buy I came very close to pulling the trigger on one. But I also love the classic looks and relaxed ride position of the classics. The ride position on my lance is so comfortable I could ride it for hours with little fatigue. What won out from one design to the other was that I wanted to have room for a second rider that was as comfortable as possible. But I also wanted to stay within the 150cc platform. The little seats of the modern sporty designs just don't cut it for me in this regard. i1287.photobucket.com/albums/a624/xyshannen1/bikeseat1_zpsc3c61740.jpgAnd now that this is what I own, I'm really looking at things I can do to add to that vintage look. Big plans for this lil scoot, big plans.

That's awesome man. It's getting harder and harder to find places like that here. The city has just about ruined them all. Jacksonville is a massive city. I have to drive 45+ minutes away to even come close to something like that.
That is a sweet looking lil scoot too. Have fun brother, have fun.
